the beautiful thing is, her music is being enjoyed by millions and millions of people. she died before the internet and would have never imagined how many people are touched by her voice and guitar playing. Rest in peace, Angel.

Eva's sister has said that Eva never made more than $80 at a gig. Eve cashed in her retirement funds to pay for the Blues Alley audio/video recording. Thank you, Eva.

If someone live Eva ever came to my studio I'd do the recording upfront no charge and bill/expect royalties instead. A voice like that comes once every.....once. [Not just the voice but her attitude to be true to her art and her drive, which not everyone has. There are people you put effort into and nothing comes out, she wasn't that.]

Thank you, Eva......sweetheart, your sacrifice gave us a bit of heaven on earth. My prayer is that I get the chance in the afterlife to thank you in person.

Hey, D22 Williams.22 ! What retirement funds are you talking about, from what source would that be ? Around the same time, I might make $35 to $50 per gig, but would have to drive over 100 miles round trip to get it. After gas and feeding myself, I might've come away with $10 for my efforts. I do believe that the reason we love her so much is because her performances were of her own making and not the result of some talentless studio producer's idea of what she ought to have done. It was all her. The beauty, the magnificence, the sincerity, the passion, the love, the sensitivity and the pure, unadulterated true feelings from within the soul of Eva Cassidy is what has drawn us to her by the millions. I wouldn't trade this one song for all the lifetime works of Beethoven and Bach combined. There is far greater meaning and value to Eva's " Over the Rainbow " than in all of what they ever composed.

I discovered Eva when this came out in 1998. I instantly fell in love with her. I now have every CD that was released, and listen to her often. She refused to allow record producers to tell her what kinds of songs to do, but did songs that appealed to her, and was never signed. The night this video was taped, Eva sang this song with a cold. I never met Eva, but I miss her terribly.

The 'two English DJs' were Terry Wogan and his producer Paul Waters. Paul died 15 years ago and Terry five years ago. Terry was the most popular broadcaster there's ever been in the UK. His BBC Radio 2 breakfast show had over 10 million ultra-loyal listeners. A friend of Paul Walters sent him a Curtis Mayfield single which had Eva Cassidy on the b-side. Paul played it and was smitten, as was Terry. The following day 10 million people in the UK were listening to Eva singing 'Somewhere over the rainbow' and the rest, as they say, is history.

As was pointed out in the bio you read, her cover of "Over The Rainbow" was played on BBC radio 2 years after she died. Additionally, this video wasn't discovered until 4 years after she died. A friend of hers had filmed it with a camcorder and someone found out about it and it was sent to "Top Of The Pops2" TV show in Britain. It aired for the first time just before Christmas of 2000. It became the most requested video in the show's history.

It is an extremely rare event to find an artist who covers a song that has captured the heart of a nation to not only make it her own, but to take to an entirely higher plane. Eva Cassidy made it a constant with every piece she ever sang. Check out "The Autumn Leaves" and "Fields of Gold" as just two more of many examples.

And we must never forget she played the guitar as well so beautifully. This demanded skill and attention. And she seemed so alone and sad as she deeply moved our hearts. It struck me as a Lament for the vagaries of our lives - asking questions - simple questions - that impact us but have no definitive answers. Yet we must carry on. Thank-you.

Eva's audience was silent while she sang. She sang on a very personal level - it was as if her song was sung just for you. She reached inside herself and poured her heart out while she sang and played. While it is a horrible tragedy she left us so soon, her music has left an indelible mark on her following. No other person occupies the space where Eva sang. It is hers, alone. Be sure to react to her rendition of "Autumn Leaves."

Now, Dorothy dear stop even imagining things. You always get yourself into a fret over nothing. Now you just help us out today and find yourself a place where you won't get into any trouble. Dorothy: (To herself) Someplace where there isn't any trouble. (To Toto) Do you suppose there is such a place, Toto? There must be. It's not a place you can get to by a boat or a train. It's far, far away. Behind the moon... Beyond the rain.

You should also do WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD that I belive was her last performance. She at the time had to be helped onto the stage, Yet she wanted to share the song as her gratitude to life. I think God gave her this blessed talent to re-write these songs to touch the hearts of people and prepare them for the blessed coming of Prophetic Times wher Jesus will return and usher us into the Eternity which is in fact SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW. GOD gave the Rainbow as His Sign He would never destroy us again. God's enemy, SATAN, has tried to steal God's sign given to us unto Salvation, and twist it to stand for something 100% the opposite to God's meaning, namely LGBTQ. Our President of the current administration even had the audacity to project that Rainbow Image on the Capital Building. That alone should be sufficient for every man woman and child to reject this Evil Administration
