Same @MsDreamscaper. I happened upon Eva purely by accident and fell immediately in love with her voice and her soul. And I was just watching Ep 10 and couldn’t believe my ears. And right before that Kate Bush was on. My best friend since we were 8 died suddenly and I’ve never been the same. He loved Kate. Both of those artists and songs reminded me of him.

This always makes me remember the wild geese that used to practice formation flying above my land in Idaho in anticipation of the coming migration. Most people think that they just fly away one day. They don't. They practice for weeks and often it is very funny as they get lost or fail to fly in formation or straggle. Then one day you see them flying with intent and determination with the young ones in the lead and you know that now it is for real and they go.
@Kayenne545 жыл бұрын
Sounds like they don't go until every one of them can keep up.

"Now the warriors of winter they gave a cold triumphant shout And all that stays is dying and all that lives is getting out See the geese in chevron flight flapping and racing on before the snow They've got the urge for going and they've got the wings so they can go They get the urge for going When the meadow grass is turning brown Summertime is falling down and winter is closing in"
@motruba4 жыл бұрын
Interesting observation about the geese. One wonders if Joni Mitchell (in the quoted excerpt above from Urge For Going) was channeling Rachel Field’s “Something told the wild geese It was time to go. Though the fields lay golden Something whispered ‘Snow.’ ...Summer was on their wings Winter in their cry.”

I'm from Maine and my roots are they're heavy and long 1590s. So I was there a lot we are Downeasters -Mid Coastal people. My mother was diagnosed with Lymphoma, she fought so hard, the Lung cancer and colon followed. I wanted to get my mother something pretty so I went into a little shop on Main Street Searsport , Maine, 2007 She battled all three until her death in 2014.. I found what I wanted and then this fantastic, jaw dropping song came on and immediately I ran to the cd section and bought all that I could find of Eva Cassidy . I went up to the counter and ask about the artist and the clerk stated that she had passed away from cancer. Right there and then, my knees didn't want to stand and my breathing scared me...I broke down. Three years later I went back to that shop and every time the owner would hug me. I've not been back since 2011. Eva's music is what angles hope to sound like.

She always makes me believe in angels. When I retired a few years ago, I brought my guitar to my office on my last day, which was mostly clearing up some administrative things, so I had plenty of time. I sang this song to some friends who were upset about me leaving (and I was sorry to be leaving them). Obviously I could never do it justice, but the beauty of the song and the people who've sung it inspired me and they loved it. When I saw Richard Thompson right before the stay at home orders hit, he did it as a tribute to Sandy. Being the pro as he is, he had just the right touch, doing just enough to make it real.
