Can anyone tell me if she maybe made a whole album only with this kind of music. I am playing this song on repeat totally drowned by its beauty
@rizandro Жыл бұрын
Not quite. She has made some similar slow tempo, simple song, all very beautiful, but they are a bit different (Bror, Vi Lovar, Finne Heim, Sleppe Tak). The last couple of years she has done some Christmas concerts with a lot of classical songs very beautifully done. If you want something very similar you should search for Aurora in Nidarosdomen with the songs Murder Song, It Happened Quiet and Walking in the Air.

this is a traditional norwegian folksong, called "stev"; "Stev is a form of Norwegian folk song consisting of four line lyric stanzas. The English version of the word is stave, meaning the stressed syllable in a metric verse. divided into different types, like for example "gamlestev" (Old-stave, ca. 13th century) and "nystev" (new-stave, 1700s) ... Handagard points out that much Norwegian folk poetry, including stev, has strong elements of alliterative rhyme and rhythm which he claims shows an unbroken tradition from Old Norse folk poetry. Storm-Mathisen demonstrates in his writing and audio recordings of stanzas from Old Norse eddic Havamal sung-recited to gamlestev and ballad melodies that there are good arguments for the theory of an unbroken tradition and non-dance origin of stev." it's a singing/poetry tradition that is many hundreds of years old, and is still practiced in certain parts of Norway. Eva being one of these people who grew up being taught to "stave". the stev she is performing in this video is said to have been her favorite stev throughout the years. so if you want music that sound similiar you should look up those traditional norwegian folk songs, or norwegian singers who perform "stev". though, you don't generally use music instruments in stev performances. other examples of stev here on youtube: "Kirsten Bråten Berg - Heiemo og Nykkjen(folkesang)", "Bukkene Bruse - Stev (Norwegian folksong)", "'Mitt hjerte alltid vanker'- Ingebjørg Bratland", "Sang: 'Til ungdommen' - Ingebjørg Bratland". the last two of those examples is a ballad and a poem, which i don't think technically counts as "stev", but the way Ingebjørg performs those songs are very similiar to the singing traditions and sound of a stev performance.
