This was an interesting project. Some things could have been done better but, for the circumstances it turned out pretty cool er... hot

So if pool is warm enaugh, you just empty the EV manifold? Is it safe to have EV pipes under the sun when there is no water running trougthe manifold?

Do you remember the size of the pool? You said it was very large? Do you know how many gallons?
@71dembonesTV3 ай бұрын
unfortunately i never knew the exact number as i did not maintain the pool or do work on pools in general typically. it was maybe 25 x 100 feet long and rectangular. 12 ft deep at one end i believe. it was for sure the biggest pool i ever worked on personally. and probably the biggest residential pool ive seen in person. more like a resort sized public pool

Hey mate, thanks for the video, vwhat would you guess the flow rate would be?, I have been give a 30 tube array and want to do the same here in aus

Thanks for watching it! Wish I could have got more footage/info in there but, I'm glad answer any questions I can! Can't say for sure on the flow rate but it has to be in the range of 60gpm total based on pump and pipe sizing (2HP, 2") So, I allege you could plumb it up with 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" and a 1HP for your application... :)

Many solar pool heater evacuated tube kits are sold with a heat exchanger and closed loop system for the solar collectors. Seems much simpler to direct pool water through the collectors. Your collectors seemed very close together... any issues there? Did you run these in series or parallel? If you had to redo it, what would you do differently?

Thanks for watching! nice series of questions! Sadly, this house was sold shortly after the project was completed so i never got to do some fine tuning/testing procedures i wanted to. There was a closed loop system available for this brand as well but we decided to try the direct approach to save on the installation cost/time. (Owner was very well off but still kinda cheap as this was his second beachside home lol) The collectors are indeed very close together and i would have like to see more spread between them but we did find they seemed to perform equally anyhow! They are in parallel with valves to control inlet/outlet to balance the flow (didn't get to experiment with that much). Basically i would love to work with this kind of system again for any kind of water heating project to experiment further! lots of untapped potential! In Mexico, these types of systems have already become very commonplace for domestic hot water applications. When doing this project; I was imaging a very efficient hybrid system that involved a series of these collectors, a pool or other body of water, a domestic hot water tank, and a series of water source heat pumps. with as much of it running off photo-voltaic solar panels ofc!

@@71dembonesTV I'm considering adding these to our pool... we'll see how it works. If it worked well, I would have expected more videos. It might still be cost prohibitive.

@@ethernalnet yeah, i would have liked to get more footage. But, like I said; House got sold and the new owners had no interest in continuing service with my partner who got the job. I doubt strongly if they understood the operation of the panels or cared to figure it out. Also, my life has changed quite a bit since then and i've been doing less of this type of service work. Take care

Did it heat the pool.
@71dembonesTV3 ай бұрын
it did make an appreciable temperature difference(as shown by the gauges) but, unfortunately didnt get as much time to experiment as i would have liked. overall i think the capacity was a bit on the small side. the same capacity (pump and panels) on a smaller pool would have given very nice results i think.

Any issues arise from plumbing pool water through copper lines?
@71dembonesTV2 жыл бұрын
not that i know of. i've seen 50+ year old pool systems with copper plumbing that has held up fine. underground, heaters, filters, etc. copper tube is also used as conduit for the in-pool lights many times even on modern installs.

Hi question Do you mind me asking you where do you purchase these panels
@71dembonesTV2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I didn't buy them so I don't know the specifics. The panels are branded "Sunrain" and I believe they were ordered from Canada. Hope this helps.
