I LOVE this video, but I wish you would have chosen yellow as the +1 value since that's the standard for most algebra tiles. Blue tiles are typically x^2.

We use AfterEffects to make the lessons, but her question may have been a request to access algebra tile software which is interactive (i.e. students can manipulate the tiles digitally), which is not the case here. This is a only video demonstration of how to use algebra tiles to visualize algebra concepts. Although, we're not sure why a cake would be so interested? ;)

Hi, have a question, I found a question that doesn't seem to work with this method. I don't know if I'm making a mistake or not. It's 2x-4=8. I made It into an addition problem so 2x+(-4)=8 and I know x equals 12 but I keep getting 4. What am I doing wrong?

You can still solve it using 2x+(-4)=8, which leads to 2x = 12, so x=6. You got x=12 because you forgot to divide by 2. Thanks, Anthony :)
