My teenaged daughter came to me early this morning balling her eyes out. Her online classes are stressing her out (she goes to a magnet school). I hugged her, let her cry, and then told her, "Always take care of yourself FIRST! Everything else will fall in line. Mommy and Daddy are proud of you regardless!" She showered, washed her hair, ate, cleaned her room, and THEN finished all of her schoolwork (after our ice cream date) and went bed smiling. Teach em young, Moms. No falling apart. Have a good cry. Take care of yourself. Deal with the crap later when you have a clean body and full stomach.

For those that are taking notes 😉 1. Let go 2. How to say no 3. Be a good friend (to other women) 4. How to read people 5. Stop living in the past 6. Avoid confrontation 7. Take care of your bag (finances) 8. Command respect 9. Self care 10. Know your worth THANK YOU Eva Monroe so happy I found your channel. I will be 40 in 2 years and sometimes I still feel stuck in the past (my 20s) but I KNOW I need to grow up and change my mindset. Thank you to women like you that are on KZbin helping us "grown girls" evolve.

You'll be just fine, self reflection is great when it's positive, just don't condemn yourself. Learn from the past, stay positive & optimistic, and don't compare yourself to others, & trust what God has for you is for you even when others don't understand the dream/desire he put in you. This is helped me to navigate just hitting 40.

Life can be like driving. If you spend the entire time looking in the rear view mirror, you will crash. Just glance in the rear view mirror occasionally but mostly look forward.

Agreed. My version of the same analogy is, there’s a reason why the windshield is larger than the rear view mirror. It’s because moving forward is the bigger picture and that’s where we’re headed. Whereas the rear view is what we need to leave behind and that’s not the direction we’re headed.

I turned 40 in April. I used to think that turning 40 would bring this awaking. Life will make sense and become easier. That didn’t happen lol. My mom passed away when I was 30. I realized afterwards there were things she just didn’t teach us for some reason. I didn’t purchase my first bottle of perfume until I was 35. My husband had several bottles of cologne and I wondered by I didn’t have a single bottle of perfume. He is 6 years older than me so he knows who he is and what he likes. I’m the opposite. I still only have 1 bottle of perfume. The only jewelry I wear is my wedding set. I have no idea what I really like in regards to fashion. I feel like I know nothing about me. I have young children (3, 4 & soon a newborn) so I feel behind, but I’m glad I came upon your channel.

I felt the same way and I’m the youngest of 5 and my mom passed when I was 42. I wish I had the bonding, encouraging, shopping experiences with her. She may not have taught me about perfumes and other feminine things (I often wondered why not..I’m guessing that wasn’t her thing or she didn’t know either), but I am thankful for what she did teach me even indirectly. I say all of that bc we have to give our parents grace (and yourself now that you are a parent). They try to do their best. The flip side..we have KZbin. You’ll find even with your own children there are things they “should know” but they don’t for whatever reason (mom of a 20 & 16 year old here). It’s all about grace.

Be encouraged sister. You are not alone. There are plenty of us that are 40+ that don't feel we are as evolved as we need to be at this stage of life. I'm learning it's less about age, but more about life experiences. People are in their own lanes and evolve at different paces. Thank God for channels like this!

Yes 💝 Our union is with our spouse. We are a unit, and when we function as such, our children respect our demonstration & are blessed. They should see their parents as ONE unit, not individuals that can be divided & conquered. It’s wonderful when children see their patents working together harmoniously. It’s great when wives trust their husbands’ judgement & husbands seek counsel & corroboration from their wives. And then the children can understand how the family unit operates. Just because there is an appropriate pecking order doesn’t mean that anyone in the family lacks what they need. On the contrary, everyone can have their needs met. Take care 🌻

Completely agree with your pecking order. The marriage of the parents is the foundation on which the family is built. If the marriage isn't nurtured and maintained, the foundation crumbles.
@germyw
@germyw 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! You are also modelling for your children how to have healthy love relationships when you prioritize your marriage. I think people who don't agree are imagining (or have been part of themselves) some sort of dysfunctional situation where kids are suffering because of the parents' misplaced priorities. They imagine a wife feeding the husband the "big chicken" while 3 kids share a drumstick. Lol. No. We are just talking about letting your kids know that the 2 of you are a solid team that was there before them and who will be there when they leave so don't try to play you all against each other. It also means not pouring your all into your children while neglecting your spouse and yourself.

There are so many things I agree with you on, BUT.....I don't believe in 'saving for a rainy day' but, rather, saving for a happy day. If you set your mind into thinking he is/might leave you someday, that is what will happen. You attract what you fear. AFA knowing my worth, I was never told that until well after I reached 40. Now, at this stage/age in my life, there is absolutely no doubt of what my worth is. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

This video is soooo necessary! Thanks for sharing it. I cosign every one on this list. I have the same pecking order btw. However, us Queens have to be sure to not let selfishness creep in. With that said if you put God first, He will not allow that to happen. Again, thanks for another great video!

This is why it is so important to have women like Eva who have gone before and are WILLING to share with younger women these lessons. So that we don’t have to relive these things. Thank you so much Eva for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Definitely me before spouse and kids. I ALWAYS say a healthy YOU is always best for everyone around you. You cannot lead anyone if you are barely hanging by a thread as they say. My mom always says, "you have never had a problem with the word NO." lol Thank you for this video. Yes by the age of 40 you have should no longer be majoring in minor things. At the end of the day many things are minor. Have a great weekend Queen.

#1 was definitely hard for me. I learned the hard way that some people are good to you, NOT GOOD FOR YOU. At that moment, I let that individual let be and move along. The disappointment was my drive to be who and where I am NOW. My husband now is the most amazingly selfless man I've ever met. I thank God for all my disappointments in life and appreciate every single one of them because it is those experiences that allowed me to see the man he has now put in my life, MY PERFECT HUSBAND!!!! Reyna Eva, I love you. I'm the only girl of 3 brothers, you're like my sistah from another uterine lining.❤🍷🍸❤ #4 READING PEOPLE, I was taught game from my dad and all my three brothers. I know and smell bullshit before it even presents itself.... lol I dont like confrontations because I love my freedom....I'm too cute for all that shenanigans. I feel the same 100% about my kids. Amen!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I let it be known to my kids they are not my #1's. My legal obligation is 18 years and my contract is done. I cant do nothing else for you. I've taught them right from wrong and it's on them after 18.

The seeds of knowledge you shared are priceless. Its sad but a lot of young women do not know these including myself at a younger age. I did eventually thank God and a few I still have to revisit. I have a FEW friends that remind me of you and I see myself in you when I was younger.. Thank you for reminding me of who I am. 💘

I agree with everything you said , especially about not putting yourself last.If you don't value yourself,your children won't value you either, they will take you for granted(you teach people how to treat you)Love God & yourself first, then you can truly love others.

Happy to have found your channel!! Being a woman developing in a world without womanly advice from loved ones (women in my family are not kind to one another unfortunately) I leaned into your words of advice!!! So thank you!!! I've been doing well on my own but its a journey. So let the journey of life, being a responsible and loving wife and mother, eldest sister, and leader in my community continues!! Thank you🙌🏾❤
