Wow, I first saw this at least a decade ago and it just came up in my recs. Always think about this video when I listen to Kid A!

I like to have what i call "Kid A listening sessions" where you close your eyes, separate yourself from the world and for the next 47 minutes experience a masterpiece as it was meant to be experienced.

you made me shed a tear. this is great. charming interpretation of the song. Its so incredibly soothing and impressive... left me speechless. I love how the tune itself sounds a little as if it were directed to an infant, as the marimba grants it a juvenile tint; it all sounds so peaceful and smooth on the ears. Twinkling and sparkling sounds from over here and over there. It's all so atmospheric. How on earth did you achieve those perfect echoes with the water-filled glasses? genius! And then you realize that every sound on the piece originates from a percussion instrument. You flawlessly added so much individuality to the cover; the piece itself is so experimental yet familiar to the original. It's that core essence that Radiohead appears to implement with the creation of the album Kid A, taking a different direction from the "conventional" rock spirit that they had gone through before then. Add a bunch of experimentation and unconventional instruments; yet they masterfully delivered the perfect tint of pre-Kid A, rock spirit into the instrumental to allow it to still be connected to previous material, such as OK Computer, yet bring meaning and enjoyment to a whole different level. You sir, took this concept a step forward and created something new, that really isn't connected to Radiohead rock material; it only attaches to the most experimental stuff they did. You branched out, and demonstrated the connection between Radiohead and something greatly experimental, made solely on percussion instrumentation. Radiohead members freaked out when they learned that multiple songs in Kid A weren't meant to have guitar whatsoever. Now imagine if the songs were to have nothing but percussive instruments. The band would've broken up. But, if they ever got to hear this out, I'm sure the beauty of this experimentation would immediately be appreciated by them. Sorry if i wrote too much. I currently am addicted to that album and I just kept on writing whatever came to mind.

hey evan. i have a question for you about recording here. i know you use the zoom h4n in this cover, but have you ever tried using the internal mics on a drum kit, without any other recording device? if so, how did it sound, and where was it placed? I was just wondering as i'd like to start using a h4n to record my own drum covers, or cut some rough demos with it, drum-wise. hope you can help me out here if you have the time. anyway, great cover as always, great touch with the glasses!
