Evan Goldberg Goes Comic Book Shopping With Collider

Preacher co-creator/co-director Evan Goldberg (This Is The End) goes Comic Book Shopping with Collider's resident comic book expert Jon Schnepp and teases the second season of the AMC series.
Do you like comics and celebrities who also happen to like comics? You’re in luck! We at Collider have a variety of original shows ranging from pundit-style Movie Talk to the more utility-based Best Movies on Netflix, and now we’re happy to introduce a brand new show for our channel: Comic Book Shopping. Each episode will find a different celebrity or personality going to a local comics shop with host Jon Schnepp and sifting through and discussing their favorite comics.
In this inaugural episode we’re joined by Evan Goldberg, co-creator/co-director of the AMC series Preacher and co-writer/co-director of films like This Is the End and The Interview. Goldberg explains how he first got involved with Preacher and how his love for the comic instill a bond at a very young age with his creative partner Seth Goldberg. And with Season 2 of Preacher premiering on Sunday, June 25th, Goldberg also teases what fans can expect from the second season (he and Rogen directed the first two episodes) and also talks about their long-term plans for the series.
At the end of the episode you can see which comics Goldberg and Schnepp chose to buy, but the rest of the show is interspersed with their expert recommendations. So if you like Goldberg’s work and are interested in Preacher, but are also interested in some comic book recommendations, this show is a must-watch.

I like this alot. I hope to see more episodes. I will offer one opinion: The interview portion is solid. In the comics portion, it would be nice if you mentioned less titles but gave us a little more description of each one. Great new show, I've seen Schnepp's segments in Awesometacular and they were my favorite parts of that show. It's nice to see mostly unknown comics showcased here but I wonder why they did not mention Ennis' run on Hellblazer, since it was great and not that mainstream but also it could gather more interest since it's a character some of the audience might know from TV or the movie.

Nice BKV binge! I highly recommend checking out the criminally overlooked THE HUMANS by Keller + Neely. It's a *wild* ride that mixes the likes of PLANET OF THE APES and SONS OF ANARCHY. Also, AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE and the SABRINA reboot are twisted variations of their origins if you dig horror.

I imagine that the goal is to create new stories to tell within the setting that they can use to stretch out the series as long as the network will allow them, then when they hit the last season wrap it up nicely to match the comic book's ending.

I stopped reading comics back in the 90's. Waste of money when half the comic is advertisements. I have no problem buying the omnibus or similar but I refuse to buy the single issue comics anymore.

Yeah, I know advertisements help pay for the comics to be published but when a comic is more than half adverting then they have gone too far. Especially when each page of the actual story only contains 1-3 panels.

I am SO glad Schnepp is hosting this because he isn't beholden to just talking dc and Marvel. There are DOZENS of other channels that do that but I've wanted a channel that gave fair and equal time to the other indie comics which are writing a lot of cutting edge stories featuring cutting edge artists. I think there needs to be more time dedicated to the recommendations towards the end as opposed to looking at the covers and telling us they're great. Tell us why they're great or a synopsis to really entice the viewer to seek them out and buy them
