@@adrianparker-e9f hmm i heavily doubt it. around the 2:30 mark, while she's running back up the stairs, you can hear how it affects her voice. also around the ending, you can tell she was out of breath and i think its obvious 😭😭 she still sounds amazing of course, i actually don't think i've found a performance of theirs where she's blatantly lip-signing. she rocks 🤘

Thanks for that ! I know that some performers have done a pre-recorded 'live' track to get that 'authentic' sound. Also, I look for how far the microphone is from the mouth. The sound of the voice will only be picked up if the mike is near.( I like it whatever !) @@revclsion

@@revclsion Yeah, you can hear her straining as well and her tone doesn’t sound exactly the same as the studio recording. I’ve watched her perform this song more recently and she sounds a lot better. She doesn’t sound out of breath or strained despite still moving on stage a lot while she sings, but you can still tell she’s singing live. Her technique has really improved since the early 2000s.

@@adrianparker-e9f They play to a click track which has pre recorded backing vocals and orchestration. Unfortunately the mixing is terrible- the backing vocals are far too loud- so it sounds inauthentic. Most live bands play to a click and backing track these days.

I have been to live performances, they do multiple performances back to back until they get the right shots for camera/tv. I was at a show for 5 hours while they replayed the song throughout. It was hot and I was tired of standing and waiting for the same performances. It was so bad that I would never go to any live performance again.

FugalFive4790: ~ Yeah - , on all of these circa 2013 "live" performance videos of the song "Going Under", the band is apparently playing along with a "backing track". The piano, orchestral strings, and multi-part additional vocals for those performances are all provided by that playback. That kind of augmenting of "'live" shows has become commonplace on TV-shows, etc., as-of the 2010s - , but it was probably not-so-common during the early 20-aughts.
@GothicElf68
@GothicElf68 5 жыл бұрын
@@charliebe28 That really depends upon the band. Groups in the Symphonic Metal genre do it all the time, in addition to having many of their symphonic components being played by the keyboardist. If it is done right- meaning well rehearsed and by very skilled technicians who work with the band- it blends in seamlessly. If you want a really good example of this, watch pretty much any live performance by Nightwish. I recommend Wacken 2013 or the Wembley 2015 performances. Or you can go back even farther, and check out the End of an Era concert. I don't know the exact year, but it was with their original vocalist, who left the band in 2005. They had the backing tracks even back then; the band's genre has always been Symphonic Metal/Symphonic Power Metal.
@charliebe28
@charliebe28 5 жыл бұрын
@@GothicElf68: ~ Yeah - , as I implied in my original comment here to FugalFive4789, the use of backing-tracks for "live" performances probably was beginning to become commonplace circa the early 20-aughts. (As an example, who can forget the infamous Oct. 2004 incident when the singer Ashley Simpson had a career-altering mishap with her backing-track, during her {mimed} performance on Saturday Night Live.) That all coincided with the first professional "flash memory"-based solid-state audio play-back devices becoming available. ~ By-the-way, if you want to get "historic" about the use of baking-tracks being used for "live" performances - , I know that the band Emerson, Lake, & Palmer used tape play-back for some of their more difficult-to-recreate synthesizer effects as early as that band's 1973-`74 world-tour. (I personally _saw_ such a tape-deck at their mixing station, when I attended an E.L.P. concert in 1977.) The band Queen also used backing-tracks at-least as early as their 1977 tour, to provide the multi-overdubbed vocals on some of their songs. Do understand that back then that required lugging-around an analog-tape "mastering deck" plugged into their mixing console, to provide an adequately high-fidelity signal.
@GothicElf68
@GothicElf68 5 жыл бұрын
@@charliebe28 Yes, I do. I saw ELP live in San Diego as a teen ager. Mixing in general was a lot more complicated back then, as they did not have the digital computerized equipment techs have today. I get your point. I was saying that it was not commonplace for the other genres, but symphonic metal bands have been doing it at least since the genre's inception. I am not sure exactly when it was, but I know Nightwish started in 1995, so a little before they 2ks and they were not the first to emerge. Combined with what you said about ELP and Queen, the technology has been around for a while. My statement about it being viable- IF a band has practised and IF they have a good technician that has rehearsed with the band to get the timing down and the mix right- is still a valid one. The tech doing the mixing for this show (or at least for this song) flubbed this up.

I was thinking the same thing. If she was concentrating more on singing and not on running around 'performing' she'd have given a much better vocal performance. It is all about balance. Putting on a good visual show is important, but it is not as important as being able to play/sing well. A little less running around would have made this much better. Finding that perfect mix between having enough air to sing well and still being visually dynamic is key.

Simon Heerze Yes. Singing certain types of music can be hard on one's voice over the course of a show- no doubt. After more than an hour or two, your cords wear out just like your arms when you're doing pushups. But similar to doing pushups, if you're doing them in a correct and healthy manner, that fatigue (or "damage" if you will) should *never* be permanent. If using proper technique and healthy singing habits, one should not "lose" one's voice over the course of their career. That's all I meant to say.

I hope everyone here is doing okay these days. Be safe and know that people care about you, even if it may not feel like it at times. If you are feeling troubled, maybe professional help is the answer, or talking to a trusted friend about what you are going through. Wish you all the best.

Now I will tell you what I've done for you Fifty thousand tears I've cried Screaming, deceiving, and bleeding for you And you still won't hear me (going under) Don't want your hand this time, I'll save myself Maybe I'll wake up for once (wake up for once) Not tormented daily defeated by you Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom I'm dying again I'm going under (going under) Drowning in you (drowning in you) I'm falling forever (falling forever) I've got to break through I'm going under Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies (so I don't know what's real) (So I don't know what's real and what's not) (Don't know what's real and what's not) Always confusing the thoughts in my head So I can't trust myself anymore I'm dying again I'm going under (going under) Drowning in you (drowning in you) I'm falling forever (falling forever) I've got to break through So go on and scream, scream at me I'm so far away (so far away) I won't be broken again (again) I've got to breathe I can't keep going under I'm dying again I'm going under (going under) Drowning in you (drowning in you) I'm falling forever (falling forever) I've got to break through I'm going under (going under) Going under (drowning in you) I'm going under

There’s 13 years between me and my brother. I’m 25 and was listening to this at its peak when I was his age. He and all his mates came round and started listening to their modern crap music like Drake and Stormzy- I put this bad boy on loud speaker. Hitting the kids with that early noughties epicness!

Good for you, I raised my boy on this (and the 80's) so he has no interest in modern crap like Beyonce, Taylor Swift etc. His peers think he's just the most innovative and cool 12 yr old ever. He loves Black Sabbath too

Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, former competitive swimmer, National radio Sports Talk Show co-host and motivational speaker, does not hesitate when asked whether it was easier to win six Olympic gold medals or to recover from her 2014 spinal cord injury. Being a swimming champion was way easier, she said. It was hard work but everybody loves you. Your face is on the Wheaties box, the milk ad. Then all of a sudden you get injured, and... your challenges are putting on shoes when your feet are too swollen." Four years ago, Van Dyken-Rouen was in an ATV accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury in a severed spinal cord.When (my husband) Tom found me and rolled me over,I was seizing. Fight for life I was more worried about my head injury than they were about my back." She woke up in the hospital confused, reeling and paralyzed from the waist down." I do not remember a lot of things. It was hard for me for a really long time to put a sentence together. I had to go to speech therapy. Even up until a year ago, I did not think I could get back in radio again because I could not think of words." Besides the psychological challenge of coming to terms with her injuries, she had to battle the searing, constant nerve pain that affects some paraplegics- pain that she says" feels like someone is trying to stretch my skin off my bones like I'm standing in a fire and that's all day everyday" Van Dyken-Rouen fought through years of physical therapy and medication changes; finally a combination of medication save her from unbearable pain but also cause swelling a 50lb weight gain and fatigue that had her sleeping 14 to 16 hours a day. Endlessly optimistic and driven, she began looking for a solution. What she found was the ketogenic diet. Van Dyken- Rouen's keto meal plan Breakfast: Keto coffee is a cup of coffee, a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream Blended together Lunch: 2 eggs, bacon, half an avocado with Himalayas sea salt. Snack: macadamia nuts, cheese and salami with cream cheese. Dinner: a piece of steak, fish or chicken thighs with leafy green vegetables and grass- fed butter. Optional: sliced avocado Beverage: Powerade zero for the Electrolytes. My words Please order from Amazon.com or go to a bookstore and buy a book about the spiritual Realm👍 Yes I'm very hurt her ATV accidentally flipped over and crash but in reality there are evil spirits out there in the spiritual Realm that you cannot see 😡I believe that spirit flip that ATV It's like you using a sharp knife and you accidentally cut yourself 😢 a family member told me they felt something push them down the steps😢 Car Accidents/ Hit and Runs 😢 getting into a fight😢getting attacked by a gang or animal 😢dog attack or snake bite spider bite😢 slips and falls that lead to Broken Bones and brain damage😢 overeating not exercising😢 I mean Just take a 10 minute walk 🚶 some Spirit keeps you from exercising and eating healthy want you to eat junk food all your life and lots of red meat👎😡 argumentative Spirits😢 jealous spirits😡 anything that cause a accident and you get hurt it's all part of the spiritual Realm👍 Yes some people cause there own accidents being carelessness and doing unsafe acts ! I love my stuntman motorcycle" Evel Knievel breaking all the bones in his body but he did what he loved👍😢❤ to entertain people and put his life on the line not doing foolish stuff to deliberately hurt himself 👍🌍 My words All in all what I really want to say is we going to get through this life on earth🌎 We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord: then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives we must receive Christ John 3:16/17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved. Romans 10:9 King James Version (KJV) 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. My words Then get baptized in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit . After you receive the Holy Spirit your eyes will be open you can see the spiritual Realm of the dark Forces the Holy Bible scriptures will open up to you. Also attend a bible-believing church that preaches the gospel of Jesus. Watch the movie Jesus of Nazareth that is your new life and if that church is not about Jesus of Nazareth movie get out of that church and get away from people that's not about that movie straight up
