OK, I'll say it. Yes, you are 110% correct on the excessive heat, and now when the leather stretches again, AND IT WILL, that entire patch is going to crack and fall out. This repair was VERY poorly done, there was no attention to detail on this whatsoever. I've done this repair MANY times on more severely damaged Bimmer seats and the result was way better, why because I took my time and did it right, this is NOT rocket science. If people take the time to do a video - for God's sake don't friggin' RUSH it and do a half assed job.

5:33 you fucked up. You used the heat gun too much in an isolated spot and shrunk the leather bolster. Use a hairdryer next time. Such a shame.
