If you follow my Instagram account @Backpacker_Comics and watch the stories there, you might already know about my plan to spend a few weeks hiking across New Hampshire on the Appalachian Trail.
In this episode, I complete the final 50+ miles of my hike, which includes 14 miles after crossing the Maine border. Highlights: the Wildcats, Carter Dome, Mt. Moriah, and the Mahoosuc Notch. I end the complete thru-Hike of New Hampshire on the Appalachian Trail at Grafton Notch.
I learned a lot on this hike which I plan to share when I get back home to Nashville.

I just want to say I really appreciate your videos. Your opening credits remind me of tv shows I watched back in the early 70’s…LOVE IT! Love your humor and love your style of vlogging. Appreciate the history and stories you share and also your attempt to show the real side of thru hikes. While your approach to hiking is pretty different from most hikers, I am fascinated with your approach. Makes a lot of sense and I learn from you. Thank you for sharing and bringing us along (minus the annoying commercials)!

Wow. That was a pretty nasty fall. Glad you didn’t get hurt. I’m proud for Sam. That is cool. Wish you had crossed paths with quicksand. That would have been funny to see him walking past your camera. Glad you didn’t hike at night in that rain. That hail was something else.

I did that section on my AT hike in 98, slackpacking. I think it was the hardest thing I did on the entire AT because of the combination of terrain and miles(22). Afterward I was laid up in Gorham for two days. Fortunately I didn't fall but I did crack a rib later in Mahoosuc. My Kelty Pack aluminum frame broke and I believe it prevented me from cracking more than one rib. Fortunately I was with 3 other thru hikers. Nice production.

Best friends for life: Liz and Luke! 👍🏻 What a bummer you missed Quicksand! He was so looking forwarded to connecting with you. I think he is doing the Wildcats. Hopefully, you can connect at Pinkham Notch. I would be interested to learn how many more miles Quicksand put in for walking past the camera. 🤔 Yikes! I am happy you did not sprain/break your wrist. You have to watch out for mud and wet leaves! I flew over my handle bars on wet leaves! It definitely knocks the wind out of you. Wow, your son sounds brilliant...studying aviation and playing the violin and your weather expert! it's good to know your kids have your back! 👊🏻 Most day hikers avoid foul weather and prefer to wait for the perfect condition to hike. As long as you know what to expect and can be smart about your choices, you can be efficient in most weather conditions. I believe if you respect the mountain, it will never disappoint! You made excellent time for the Mahoosuc Notch! After a couple of times, you start to figure out the pattern and will probably get faster. Happy trails! 🌺

Hi Evan, I know your done with your trek, but I've got a question. Nimblewill mentioned at Little Bgelow lean-to that the new ones are a sight to behold for their craftsmanship, but the old ones were left standing. He said that they were the finest huts on the trail. What do you think about them? Would like to stay there. Thanks for all of your information and videos.

Some rugged, rough scenery and trail you're showing in this last video. It's striking how different the weather is compared to here in the Southeast. Freezing and hypothermia at night? Heck, I'm thrilled if it drops below 75 at night right now. Good series to watch and I'm glad you went to the trouble to share it. Cheers.

Vibram soles. From Wikipedia: “The sole was designed to provide excellent traction on the widest range of surfaces, have a high degree of abrasion resistance, and was made using the latest vulcanized rubber of the time. In 1954, the first successful ascent to the summit of K2 was made by an Italian expedition, wearing Vibram rubber on their soles.”
