Wow. This was a wild one! Quite possibly one of my favourite adventures to date. A few notes for the curious: • All trash obviously gets taken off the mountain (I mean this is a no-brainer with expeditions of this calibre) • Yes this means you do carry your own frozen 💩 off the mountain as well. It’s disposed of in Chile. • For more insights into the logistics of these expeditions, check out my other Vinson video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKnNc2x-dptkgZY • No we didn’t find that tent. It’s rare for such a thing to happen, and very unfortunate in every way. • Yes it’s very expensive. I guess I could have invested in an apartment instead of climbing an Antarctic mountain, but apartments aren’t my priority in life. Mountains are. • More big mountains coming later this year! 🏔❤️

For folks who care: these types of expeditions to the antarctic with the Mt. Vinson climb cost at least $50,000 USA dollars, counting air flights and equipment you buy separately (the expedition outfitter charges around $43,000). There are much cheaper options to see the Antarctic, as long as you don't go on a climb, costing around/less than $10,000 for around 1-2 weeks. I believe that there are between 50,000-150,000 tourists who visit the Antarctic each year, so obviously, making sure they do not impact the pristine environment there has to be a top priority. Thanks, again, Eva, for sharing this adventure with us.

It's wonderful to see videos like this from all of the incredible places around the world that I'd love to see in person, and I really enjoyed them at first. But now, as I face the possibility of being a 60 year-old woman living in my car with 2 cats because I won't be able to afford rent in my one bedroom apartment... well, now these videos are getting a little depressing. I celebrate with the people that can spend their lives globetrotting, they are blessed. But now their videos only help me to forget, briefly, that I'll be counting change at the grocery store again soon. And if/when I can't pay the bill for the internet, well I guess I won't be watching any videos, depressing or otherwise. All the best to everyone out there, God bless you all and keep you safe.

One of the many impressive things is your battery management. I've taken my gopro on snowboard trips & sometimes barely complete a run down a piste before the cold has depleted my battery, I tend to keep the spares in my underwear now, but I suspect that's not an option in the Antarctic!

Actually the trick in sleeping in extreme cold weather with -50c sleeping bag is to wear moderately warm tops and just wear shorts for the bottom. This is regardless of outside temp. The feet will regulate body heat naturally and then if it gets too hot then unzipping the sleeping bag would help regulate the excess heat. You would sleep comfortably and never sweat.
