Extremely the best Celtic song I've ever heard in my life. GO WELSH!!!

What do you mean "Celitc" song? It's a Welsh song. Would you call an English song a "Germanic" song?
@Wintz9872 жыл бұрын
The Welsh are also celtic, brythonic not gealic 😁✌️

Lots of Scottish & Irish Celtic music about but I often wondered why there isn't more of this wonderful, beautiful Welsh music too.

Because they often play in a too modern setting. Or they play in a classical music style which lacks the ornamentation of Gaelic music. It also holds back some Scottish performers in my opinion but to a much lesser degree. People like the Gaelic ornamentation.

Because Britain has spent the last millennia or so actively trying to erase Welsh heritage, and unfortunately they have mostly succeeded. A hundred years ago, at the height of the British empire, welsh Gaelic was nearly an extinct language, only spoken by some 20% of the population. A lot of people forget that during their centuries old tradition of destroying cultures and peoples, Wales was Britain's most successful genocide.

@doctorfluffnstuff403 Not to be argumentative, but just as a point of clarification, “Welsh Gaelic” is a bit of a mixing of terms. Sort of like saying Germanic Spanish, or something to that effect. Perhaps you meant just Welsh, or Welsh Brythonic? Gaelic refers to the Scottish variety of the Goidelic branch, and sometimes people will also say Irish Gaelic to differentiate, though more properly it’s called Gaeilge or just Irish. Cheers and all the best.

@@williamslone5429 Fair enough. I'm pretty sure I was drunk when I wrote that. I don't even know why I said that, since Welsh isn't even Gaelic, it's Brittonic.

The first time I herd Eve sing this I loved it. Great to see her getting on a bigger stage.
I wish they taught welsh in england too, you could argue our ancestors spoke it too but sadly people don't care about languages anymore and if they do it wont be welsh. I'm hoping to go to bangor university to study languages soon though, hopefully I can learn some welsh in my free time

Love it. I really should have learned. People see me as English... which I am, but all my family are from Wales. I'll blame me dad for only speaking English to me. More bones of our family stuck in the Welsh pits than there are walking about... so said me Da. At least my daughter's can speak it... sort of. But that means I can't blame Da... wow I'm lazy

I'm Dutch and I find written Welsh not even difficult to read, but it's so different!! Does anyone have an explanation ?
@alynwillams42974 жыл бұрын
Definitely strange as Welsh is a Brythonic language and Dutch is a Germanic language
@gerald40133 жыл бұрын
It has a logical spelling, much more logical than the English one.
@stephrichards46112 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised you say that because Welsh uses VSO structure but English is SVO in the sentence construction. They are quite different. Maybe you're just really good at languages

@MrNuWow3 жыл бұрын
No one replied to you so I thought I should - Pretty sure it's not the same singer, but the song, at least in parts, Oracle uses a version with different verses, is similar
