@@davidbombal same here, eve-ng is fast, less bugs than GNS3, and in my case I work in a large IT company , so I ask to the data center staff to install EVE-NG in a VM , and because is clientless I can access to it anywhere using a browser.
@davidodav
@davidodav 5 жыл бұрын
@@davidbombal EVE-NG has both version free (community ) and paid(professional). from scalability perspective , it is really awesome as being 2xCCIE I run complex labs for POC and it works fine. I already switched off my multi-vendor hardware routers and switches in basement. You can can install it on one server and access it from any machine as it is clientless. In order to enjoy EVE-ng then you need to have really a good server. I invested close to $6k for buying the best server for eve-ng and installed it as bare-metal! When you test it in detail then you will see what I am talking about. I use eve-ng for my RedHat certifications, network automation, for NSX ,...everything at this moment.

Thank you David, very good presentation for a good quality product. For a while I had both deployed, EVE NG and GNS3 (ESXi environment). Things were getting complicated so I had to make a choice, in my case, I opted for GNS3. EVE NG web interface is very well done, the only part I didn't like was when connecting the virtual environment to a physical network/lab. After your interview with Jeremy Grossmann I am very pleased because GNS3 is adding the web interface. All the best!

@@davidbombal Excellent! GNS3 is great software, there's no doubt there, but I do personally prefer EVE-NG overall. There's just a lot of very small details I like better, like how the interface links are clearer. Or holding your cursor over the interface, changes the devices colour - which makes visually illustrating traffic easier for me when recording. I've always really liked the Web interface (I understand GNS3 is moving this direction, which is definitely the way forward imo!). I've recently upgraded to EVE-NG PRO and the features for suspending links, and easily manipulating link quality like jitter, etc, are just excellent. I can't fault it one bit. Overall, though, I'm just glad we live in a time we have options like EVE-NG and GNS3, since they're absolutely invaluable for teaching, learning and sharing :) -John

Hi David, thanks a lot for the video! I have one question, do you think is possible to use EVE NG PRO to recreate a big corporate network infrastructure and use it to test changes before putting into production ? In my company we don't have any test environment , I hear always from my manager that is very difficult to recreate the real production but I was thinking that maybe EVE NG would be suitable for it. Is player fine? should it be workstation pro? Also would you recommend this EVE-NG? Also i noticed a product they have called Remote Desktop. Do i need that. Lastly, can i get by without something like a Sonic Firewall? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Dave, trying to determine which option to choose from for the eve-ng. I have a ProLiant DL360p Gen8 with 64GB of ram and am running ESXi version 2016.03.02. The ESXi is a bare metal install so the eve-ng will be getting installed as a guest on that host. Do you think I should just get the community version? I was going to get the Pro/Learner edition. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian -- Definitely a Fan of yours!!

Thank you Brian. The EVE-NG team have live support on their site. Try to reach them directly for the best advice. Personally I would get the Pro version if you can afford it as it has many more features.
