Me, who never played EVE: "Man, how can you understand anything that is going on to give commands??"
@AHigherPerspective4 жыл бұрын
There are some very specific ships that do specific roles in EVE, and he shouts off some of the commands to them to make sure it gets done. For front liner soldiers, you just shoot whomever's name comes up in the little window in the bottom right hand corner, Its actually quite easy.
@Ozrico1o14 жыл бұрын
Eve's Overview, the tool that gives you a list of the belligerents, is what is giving the Fleet Commander the tactical info to choose a target, and he does that based on range & shiptype (role). Notice that you only hear the FC, with occasional updates from the logistical FC (the healers) for his fleet, which the FC needs to know. Those are the only ones you hear on comms, but the FC is also linked to various others in chat that are keeping eyes on the enemy's various bases in other systems within reach of the fight in order to know if the opposing force is preparing to send more ships or not. So the FC depends on many others to have a successful outcome, it's not all on him.

Eve is an extremely fun and addictive game. Just as most space/sci-fi sandbox MMOs, it looks a lot more complicated than it really is. That's not to say it is really simple, it just has almost two decades of it's user interface being refined into something easy to control.

Hi. Thanks for coming (twice!). We had a really oddly high number of logis that night for some reason, and our high resist against projectiles combined with the Eagle's nearly 90k EHP overheated combined really benefited us here. Bad guys came to destroy a friendly structure. Bunch of like-minded dudes banded together to help fend off the bad guys. Lots of stuff died on both sides defending the structure.
@bogustoast22none254 жыл бұрын
Logi (loh-gee) refers to logistics ships that focus solely on repairing friendly ships by either mending armor or restoring energy shields. Kiki (kee-kee) which is short for Kikimora, a destroyer sized ship in game, the ship (and all that fall in the same family of ships) have are unique in the sense that they are good at repairing friendly (but not their own) armor while maintaining a decent firepower. What makes it unique is that no other type of known ship is a decent hybrid at both damage and repairing, making fleets of these ships extremely dangerous as every single ship is a healer, and every single healer is also fighting. Dreadnought, think ships the size of Star destroyers from Star Wars. Titans, think of SSDs from Star Wars, with a mini Death Star shot if allowed. Purples are friendly, reds are enemies. HAC (pronounced hack) stands for Heavy Assault Cruisers. Heavily combat oriented. They are the sluggers of almost every fight. I hope these terms help you understand what’s going on.

at one point i was going to try eve online, as an mmo it seems intresting, but honestly i didn't understand anything from those clips. even tho it's visually appealing indeed :) good job

Thank you. I totally understand that from an outsider's perspective this is just purple and red blobs. I will do better to explain more stuff next time since a lot of non-EVE players are viewing this.

The fight was very interesting to watch. A will admit, I was unable to follow any of the lingo. Did see a lot of head hunting. Specific ships, or players being called out to be destroyed. But was completely lost. I did notice two things. One the purple violet group was more of a shield, with very few specific spike attacks against certain vessels on called targets. Would love to have heard the enemy red forces comms to hear the other side of the battle. Red was like a snake, big long string that was slowly being cut to pieces. An ability to change your tactics and strategy on the fly is the best defense. An inability to alter your plans and continue in a straight line, knowing that their is a grinder at the end of the line, probably not so smart. I WOULD LOVE to hear the other sides version of this battle for a clear cut look at both sides of the battle.

Great eye! The game is terribly difficult to decipher if you dont play it. But you got the most of it. Purples are people in the friendly fleet, grey are neutrals (who we were helping, and some helping the enemy), and reds are baddies. The big towering capital ships were just duking it out in their own little battle while the smaller sub capitals (us) were trying to kill each other. The way these ships are fitted is so that we can quickly all focus on a target and destroy them in 1-2 volley so that the enemy cannot repair them in time. The reinforcement being thrown in the grinder is just part of the fun, the enemy flew a long way to get here, its more fun for the boys and girls to try to get some kills instead of turning around and going home. Had all the enemy fleet been on the field at the same time the battle would have been very brutal for both sides. I would love to in the future see it from their side as well and incorporate it into the video so we can see where it went wrong for each of the side.

@@AHigherPerspective prob going to get flamed for this but i apreciate the star citizen gameplay more. not bashing eve or elite just not what I want. but again. great video. well done.

@@TheCort1971 Thanks a lot. EVE is a pretty old game with some really old code that hinders it's future development. I don't think anyone would flame you for wanting Star Citizen style of gameplay. I believe a large crowd would switch over in a heartbeat, even if they won't admit it. I very much look forward to Star Citizen to come to fruition.

I guess it safe to say that my knowledge of stellaris combat systems is similar to EVE online, if not i had no idea how it work

EVE has it's meta lineup of ship that particularly strong and that generally what ends up in fleet engagements. There are several other ship types as well that compliments it. Webbers (which slows down the target to be easier shot at) and scramblers (to prevent them from warping off), or interdictors (those big bubbles you see, it prevents ANYONE from warping while in them). I would say its a very complicated game of rock, paper, scissors....with a lot of yelling.

So i've never played Eve Online, when I first saw it in '08, I was a teen with no $ flow, and as of 2016, I had assumed the game would die soon. But then I saw that galactic news real about the "Biggest battle Ever!" where they lost, I think it was, over IRL $2M worth of ships, or something like that. It's been a couple years. I still don't have the time or opening in my current gaming list to get into it like the game deserves, but I LOVE watching the galactic news, and seeing the player driven lore and history this game has developed over the years. I DO have to ask though... do shipwrecks stick around unless cleaned up by someone?
@AHigherPerspective4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The wrecks do stay around for a little bit. But the wrecks can contain some of the modules and weapons that was equipped in the now dead ships (which are very expensive). There are also special types of ships that can come and salvage the wreck itself for valuable construction parts of the ships themselves which can overall bring down the cost to replace them. If we are in hostile space, and won the engagement, we will shoot the wrecks and destroy them, so that our enemies cannot salvage some of their cost back.
@NationalDevin4 жыл бұрын
@@AHigherPerspective I was wondering how well salvage procedure works in Eve. I watched that tutorial that is, as he says, "Not really a tutorial, but just a video to keep you from being Incompetent at playing eve" awhile ago, and I saw that Security has a huge deal to do with you being safe, unless you're a faction war player, so I imagine that it depends on which type of player you are, but I was more curious about it on the Micro level. How policed scrap is, if it's protected or abandoned by the groups in question regularly, if people wait on the outskirts of fights just to go swoop in, if pirates bait people. I'm sure there's contexts for someone doing everything, but I'm curious because if I do decide to play, I feel like I'd try to stick to a certain region of space and establish myself as a trader of some sort. I don't want to be in a faction for awhile, but a faction proxy would be nice lol.

I feel like a regular man looking at the Matrix green code. I can't understand what I am seeing but you guys car just "see" through it.
@AHigherPerspective4 жыл бұрын
Pretty much it....Its pretty hard to get into, but once you play it for a bit everything starts to make sense. The game is much more interesting in small scale engagements.
