Just popped up and I'm so excited. Eve online is one of the most intense excel spreadsheets ever made. And a scathing inditement of how I spent my formative years.

I just started listening, but EVE Online was the last MMO I played many many years ago, but that sucked me in for many more years. There's no MMO like it

Hilmar is absolutely right when he says it's about story. I've played EVE Online for about fifteen years now. I've been to EVE Vegas and Fanfest in Iceland multiple times. I'm "invested." I get this nagging feeling when I'm playing a side game, that whatever I'm doing doesn't actually matter. The stories there have been pre-scripted, there's nothing to discover that hasn't been crafted before. But when I'm in EVE, I may be a small part of a story that's being written on the fly by me and thousands of great friends, enemies, and especially frenemies. I know it sounds kind of camp and cheesy when Hilmar gets on stage and yells "EVE Forever!" I'm one of the voices yelling back in that recording, because if any game can truly last forever, I think it's going to be EVE Online.

Random question - does it help your stats if I listen to the podcast through an app (Spotify) versus watching the video on KZbin?

I've always found Eve to be immensely interesting to think about, but extremely boring to play 95% of the time.
