what EVE needs is something to give us a better feel for the size of ships. They could, for example add more station animations like the ship crew walking around on the platform under the ship, vehicles carrying cargo on/off the ship, small maintenance machines flying around the ship and checking it's condition and so on... This would totally bring stations to life.

I've built Maller battlecruiser in SE. It gets 30K blocks to built, but I did. And full interior too. I used a load of mods, to make it feel real, like laser beam cannons. I walk around and do some cosmetic stuff from time to time. It's real size and it have factories to process ore into stuff, so ship is self sufficient. Maller in eve is just a small ship, but in SE a manage to fit inside not only crew waters and mess halles, but even medbay, and briefing room with a size of a cinema, and a small shuttle bay for small craft.

Saying they are cities are a bit underestimate... since titans are kilometers in all directions, but not many buildings exceed 200m in height... You could quite comfortably put a major nation in one of those things. For example, they have a volume around 100 cubic kilometers, if the titans have 1/10 of its internal volume as crew quarters, you could put the entire population of Australia (30 million) in the crew quarters and everyone have on average 300 cubic meters of living space, which is pretty comfortable.

@eskaes20647 жыл бұрын
Training Time for T1 Cruisers is not even that long, since you only need the *insert Fraction Name here* Frigate and Destroyer Skill on Level 3 to learn the actual Cruiser Skill. That would take about 2-3 days i guess + some extra days to get the Skills for operating the Equipment properly(!) (i mean minimum on lvl3 if not on lvl4) So, basicly you can become an actual decent cruiser pilot in just a few weeks.

eSKaeS OK. What's the biggest thing Free Clones can fly? I think I read somewhere that it was cruisers or battle cruisers
@eskaes20647 жыл бұрын
The biggest thing you can fly in EvE for free are T1 Cruisers thats right. For higher classes (Battlecruisers, Battleships,etc.) or T2 - T3 Ships (advanced Versions of the T1 Ships with more potential but far more expensive) you need to upgrade your free Clone into the "Omega-Status" which you can archieve by buying "Omega-Time" directly on the EvE-Homepage or ingame by buying "PLEX" on the free market (But before i make you false hopes, these PLEX are VERY expensive! Sometimes over 1 bilion ISK)

If memory serves, crew was actually something retconned (god knows why). The implication was that you still had crew and just helmed from your pod. Now Im not sure what the lore is but crewed ships make MUCH more sense. Also, if you look in the cockpits of all the Fighters there are little pilots in them. +Tom Gray They would sit in the chair and tell the other head officers what to do.
@Theoriginaltkg29029 жыл бұрын
Yeah, easy answer - In the movies, maybe. Were talking about ships- the dreadnoughts, anyway, that would be miles long and incredibly complex, with a crew of thousands . From a practical standpoint its master would be like a Governor. or CEO of a multinational corporation. That's a little more than setting a fancy chair like Jean Luc Picard making snap decisions.
@thestaggy9 жыл бұрын
+Tom Gray Basic military command chain. World War 2 was a great example of central headquarters coordinating various army groups made up of armies that operated across large fronts. A massive ship would likely be commanded by someone with the experience of a Fleet Commander, someone accustomed to coordinating multiple vessels simultaneously. The ship would then be broken up in to areas of operations; engineering, maintenance, weapon systems, defence systems, communication, etc. No different to different armies making up an army group. These areas would then in turn be led by someone with the experience of commanding a ship and they may have a degree of autonomy to ease day-to-day operations. The commander would likely have a sizable executive - like army HQ - that handled information as it came in and out. Daily reports and meetings where the commander sat with the various area commanders would further assist in keeping the overall commander up to date with what is happening at the arse-end of his ship. As this is future tech, the commander may have the benefits of holograms, or robotics that he could access and traverse all parts of his ship ''in person''. Each area could have said robot or hologram facilities that allowed the commander to drop in as and when he pleased. And vice-versa, the area commanders could have contact with the commander in his HQ via holograms/robotics without having to traverse the vast expanses of the ship. In times of battle I could see the commander and the various area commanders all being ''present'' in a war room via holographic projectors/robotics, ''stepping away'' as and when their presence was required in person back in their area of command.

Condescending statements unnecessary, intelligent people can have intelligent conversation. Solar sail technology can create ships fast enough to reach another star system within a single generation. With proper funding, this technology basically already exists, and only needs a little tuning. 50-100 years we could be planning this mission, if there were proper interest and financial backing. Warp drive technology is within centuries of use. Physicists already know how it could be done, but applying it is much more difficult and requires, again, funding. And a lot of it. Many many more theories exist, and almost every single one is doable within several centuries, with proper funding and interest. A quick google search can bring you to many of these things. WITH current, rather shitty, funding and interest, most experts believe we'll be able to embark on interstellar travel around the time we gain mastery of our solar system, which is probably going to be, again, a few centuries.
