I have one of these in my hot water heater closet along with an Aqara water leak sensor. I am also using Aqara water leak sensors in several other areas throughout my house (refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, HVAC evaporator coil, utility sink). I started out with the Eve unit but decided to go with the Aqara units elsewhere as they were cheaper and I wouldn't have issues with range, especially since several of these units are under metal appliances.

I just bought one in Amazon but I wanna know if it’s possible to create a automation when it don’t detec water? I know this is a water detector but I need it as a “No water detector” sometimes we have no water and I need to know to turn on a valve in my home.

Quite impractical to use, having to deal with cables and no freedom to put it anywhere away from the power outlet. I’m using two Aqara Water Leak sensor and one Mi Flood Detector; both works wirelessly despite needing a hub.

I think it’s important for people to share opinions and I think for your setup this works for you. I have a couple of Aqara leak sensors that I use in this way. Whereas the Eve is ideal for behind the washing machine

cheaper is to use a normal water guard that makes an alarm tone only and this tone you will hear via your camera mike informing you when not home. just 10€ approx

I’ve seen several reviewers make the same claim at 9:10 that a disadvantage of the Aqara water sensor is the lack of leads. But I am looking at the Aqara Water Leak Sensor Quick Start Guide, and it says that contact sensing is only Option 1. Option 2 is when you unscrew the probes as you did, you can “connect to cables” and they illustrate this. I have not tried connecting mine to wires, but it would be nice to see a test of the Aqara used that way versus other brands with wires.

I have tried it, it works. But you need to use the correct type of cable and it’s a fiddle getting it working

That’s what I suspected, I wish their manual would say what kind of cable should be used. But mine work fine in contact mode for now. Thanks for confirming, and for your channel’s consistently great HomeKit info!

Thank you so much. You need wires that would expose the core of the wire. So you could strip a cable for this purpose
