When I played this as a kid, it was in a small arcade connected to a Baskin and Robin's ice cream shop. It had an electronic glitch that would give points whenever you slapped the right flipper. In the summertime I would gather up some returnable glass coke bottles, go to Minyard's grocery, get my $1 or so for the bottles, then head to the arcade, get an ice cream cone, and put a quarter in the Evel Knievel machine, tap the flipper until I got a free game, and played all day for 25 cents... those were the days that made America great.

Memories. I used to play this table in a small transport café in Alrewas, Staffs called "The Tree Café". If I remember correctly, you got a free game at 300,000, and another at 500,000. After that, you got 3 free games for beating the highest score. The machine was reset every Wednesday, and cleaned. Once reset I would play and tilt the game at 501,000 just to get 3 more games. Repeat this every couple of thousand points to get endless games. Honestly, during 1979-1981 I was that good on this machine, that the younger kids would give me their 10p's and get me to get them more replays. Loved it.

That's funny I used to play this in Heidelberg Germany at a rec building on a US military base 80-82 and got great at it, could play for a long time. Actually a lot of kids who hung out there got really good at this to the point it was always hard to get on the table. Fun times. Germany no drinking age either.

I have a super nice machine just like this in my garage.... I've had it 25 years or so... paid $450 for it back then... it's like new with all the paper work inside from 1977

Some of the new refurbished machines do not play or sound like the original. This machine sounds great.

On these early Bally SS games the strategy was to ignore everything and go for the lit spinner. Takes a bit of the fun out of the game but thats how you beat it.

This game actually had some good strategy. There was a set progression you had to work through.

Allan Reizman yes, it makes these machines boring, even Nitro Ground Shaker and eight ball, they only have 2 or at the best 3 shots. The best ones of that period were Gottlieb, Williams and Zaccaria
