I eat that salad every day!! I think I could never get enough of it! I feel so lucky that I only have to go in my garden and pick up some tomatoes, some cucumbers and some onions and that's it. I'm so happy that I've found your videos and that I you talk about our healthy food.

Inspiring video. Absolutely beautiful Evelina! You are the model of beauty and health. Congratulations. Thank you for this. I am absolutely overwhelmed by all the info on how to become healthier, but I don't lose hope, and I pray I can start with at least one meal a day. I too am from a country where what we eat is fresh each day, so I can relate to that very well. I did not eat anything processed until my family moved here when I was very young. Now I have all these bad habits that I am trying to undo especially the addiction to fast foods and junk food. My poor mother was not educated, so she had no idea how the nutrition in our lives had changed. It's okay. The important thing is that we do live in America where there are so many options for healthy choices now and there is so much more awareness of what we are putting in our mouths. It's just a matter of making the switch back to whole foods little by little. God bless you.

I am from Southamerica and the first time I went abroad I missed my food so much...I got so excited when I saw tomato juice in the menu of a restaurant. To my surprise that juice was made out of the tomatoes we use for salads or cooking only. In Colombia, we have a different kind of tomato for juice and we call it "tree tomato" because it grows in trees. It is soooo gooood!...I still miss it.

I'm really surprised by the things you said: don't you have fresh food in any regular market in America?? I'm italian and here is normal to buy fresh food! Um, have you ever wondered why those who love in poverty tend to be obese instead of the upper middle/middle class folk who can certain afford to eat more? It's because processed foods are way cheaper. I went vegan for two months and wow, you wouldn't believe the costs of organic foods, especially compared to non-organic food. The price I'd pay for 3 organic apples and a 10 oz jar of organic tomato sauce could get me 6 apples and a 40 oz jar of sauce (non-organic). It was ridiculous, especially since I was on a serious budget.

Ohh, you fell into the classic "healthy" food trap! Activia Vanilla yogurt is delicious, I agree, and it seems healthy, but one serving has 17g of sugar. For some perspective, a Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut has 10g of sugar. If you buy plain yogurt and sweeten it yourself, you'll add less sugar to it than the Activia vanilla has.

I am not trying to be mean or anything, but i am naturally a skinny person and i did fall into the "natural" "healthy" eating trap. It made me lose weight, it can get really scary, and i gave it up because i realized that full fat milk and a burger here and there is so very necessary for your body, because foods that include "fat" is not necessarily bad, but are necessary for your body to function as a healthy human. I honestly think most the people who call himself "healthy eaters" are brainwashed and do not know what a disservice they are doing to their own body. I am not talking about anyone in particular, just voicing my experience and opinion.
@jolou1112
@jolou1112 10 жыл бұрын
Fat is so necessary too, but healthy fat, like in nuts, avocado, salmon etc. Eating healthy doesn't mean you should it light products because that's not healthy for our bodies. You can also make your own burgers, you can make everything by yourself from scratch, which is more healthy and probably won't have a lot of chemicals. This is just my opinion and experience. I was a little like you, lost weight (but I had gain some before). Also, if you want to gain more - workout and eat healthy food (more protein and fat, but still healthy)! :)
@samantarizzi248
@samantarizzi248 8 жыл бұрын
J I agree and it's also important to eat regularly and at least four times a day! I'm skinny too so I was always struggling with my weight but that's just because I ate too little, like twice a day - I had lunch and dinner and maybe a little snack in between. I wasn't aware of it until I was in my twenties and I decided to start eating more and after a couple of months I started noticing changes in my body. I am still slim but I am not all bones like I was before. I will always be skinny, I accepted that (and I quite like my body physic tbh:) but hopefully never so skinny as I was in my teenage years. Also I think female hormones helped me out too because I am 22 years old now and I think that girls fully become women in their 20's something years :) Oh and what is healthy for someone may not be healthy for someone else - our bodies are different!

I also grew up in Moldova and moved to the US at age 16. You pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to eating habits and availability of natural foods over there. Very well explained! One particular food I find to be so different here and not nearly as tasty is the tomato. I just can't seem to find tomatoes that are as delicious as I remember them to be in Moldova. :)

Activia isn't maybe most healthy yogurt of all, but its definitely its healthier than candy bars or sugar-packed cereals, especially with fruits etc. Of course it would be the best to eat only organic food, but its not possible (or rather very hard and pretty expensive). The salad is pretty typical for east and south east Europe (Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Greece, even certain regions in Turkey). I tend to believe all countries with a lot of sun during the summer eat more vegetables because they taste soooo much better. The best tomatoes I ate in Germany don't even come close to the ones I was used to (unfortunatelly) because they don't have enough sun. And no, the imported ones don't taste good enough either. Some tomato juices do though :)

Haha I love tomato juice!!! I drink it since I was little :) unfortunately here in Italy organic food is more expensive so I buy the regular one but I usually bake sweets and deserts in order to know what I eat :)

It's the same for us in Sweden! We really don't eat a lot of fastfood, Scandinavia is really great when it somes to those kind of things :D
