Somehow I think I can see them still singing this while seeing each other as temporary rivals or enemies. I see lumine at the end of her journey through teyvat. All that she must’ve went through and the 500 years she’s had to endure. She sings about the newfound truth she knows and thus becomes the Princess. But now she sees Aether, the light she once adored. And it’s as bright and beautiful as she remembers. A warm memory, close, yet distant at the same time because of where she is now and where she needs to go. She can’t go with her brother no matter how much she wants to. But she also can’t have him interfere with the abyss. So she must stop him. And I see Aether at the end of his journey through teyvat. Going on adventures with dear friends across the seven nations. He’s acquired all 7 elements and met all 7 archons. All the while being in denial about what his sister’s been doing. in the hopes of finding his beloved sister and returning to the life they once shared. Traveling world after world living for adventure. But now he sees her. Who she has become. His light that’s been driving him, that he’s tried so hard to reclaim. But it’s tainted by who his sister has become. And it’s bittersweet. He sings about the truth he’s been denying. And he can’t anymore. He can’t keep dreaming of the life they had. As he is now certain that it’s gone forever. After all they’ve been through: Lumine sees the light she once adored. The light she must leave behind. Because the Princess and the Abyss must achieve their goal. But that light threatens to destroy them. So he must be stopped. And Aether sees the light he’s tried so hard to reclaim.
