The ultimate goal is to finish this story with a trip to Kenya where we’ll visit an Elephant sanctuary and participate in flights where they’ll be utilizing the equipment we learn about in this episode and #aerialphotos to help combat Elephant poachers.
Since filming began in 2019 this high tech activity has spun out of TacAero into its own business line: "Hood Tech Aero". For more information on anything you saw in this video related to Brian's work, please reach out to Hood Tech Aero:

FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

Their imagery is 5 cm resolution. From commercial satellites you can buy 30 cm imagery--not 3 meters. It's limited by a treaty. Satellites are more economical if you don't need the ultra resolution and you want large areas covered. Satellites are also not subject to TFR (disaster areas) or airspace.

And if you've never been by The Hood River airport and seen the Western Aviation and Automobile Museum there budget at least a full day! I've been there 6? times now and my legs have always shouted stop before I've wanted to. Old cars, motorcycles, airplanes...at-least a full day. I have no connection to the place other than being a pure Av-nut but the cars and stuff are mind-blowing! RV-it, get a motel and really give yourself two days there. Great picture logs on a lot of the rebuilds, several lines of old Model A's and T's --all original, That place is amazing! Two days, budget at least two days!

Good job on pilot helmets. Most GA aircraft were designed long before crash safety was a real thought

Hey Steve, this is probably one of the only KZbin channels where I don’t mind a “PAID PLUG”…. Your videography and editing is far and above almost any other channel.

add a gimbal to the rig to stay on target (the horizontal level) better?

Seriously cool stuff, Steve. Thanks for sharing this. One day, when I get enough money, I really would like to do Patreon for a lot of KZbinrs. Maybe one day. In the meantime, I hope you can get to Africa soon.

Gyroplane guy here from Ottawa - this would be a great application for gyro. Very low per hour cost, no wasted time in turns, short fields takeoff/landings.... too bad commercial use is not yet allowed in Canada.

Thanks for telling stories of unusual aviation applications and the people behind them. There are so many different ways to use flight in our world beyond getting from point A to point B.

I would love to get into using this equipment on my SuperCub. Lots of fire prevention opportunity in my area along with search and rescue in the national forest system. Thanks for the great video.

That was awesome Steve, thanks much!! I'm also really glad to see the little push for helmets. I have an example, a 1969 Bell Star helmet that was destroyed.... with my head in it!! It hangs in my garage as a stanch reminder why we wear them!! 8} JMHO --gary
