Thanks to my patient for sharing her journey! This is session #2. She found us on KZbin. I appreciate her sharing her procedures on a sensitive area for a young woman so others can learn about this condition. You can see she has had deep scars form from previous removals at a different office. My goal and hers is to lessen the appearance of bumps with the least amount of scarring possible. Hi Greg. There is an esthetician who has a line of surgical steal hooks that she uses to get out ingrown hairs that commonly occur after being waxed. They would work great for pulling out the sacs. Her name is Jada Kennedy. I believe she calls them " the hook of life". She sells them here on YT as well as tweezers that have an extremely tiny pincer on the end for tight spaces I think they would work great for this application as your patients are numbed for their procedures, the tools can be autoclaved, and you already have a small incision cut. Love your videos & you have the best bedside manner. Thank your patient for all her videos. 😊

What about a Cawthorne hook? That's a tiny right-angled hook - they come in several sizes, the smallest less than a millimetre across. I believe they're generally used by ENT. Generally speaking, if you want very small instruments, take a look at the ENT and/or ophthalmology stuff from your supplier. I have a couple of pairs of tiny, autoclave-safe, toothed forceps with jaws around 1mm wide which I think were sold for eye surgery - I use them for crafts. They're titanium alloy, so they don't get bent out of shape too easily despite being so thin; I've had them for years and I love them. They'd be perfect for pulling steatocystoma sacs through very small incisions. 😊

The "Hook" you're looking for is called a Micro ear hook. You should be able to get one from your equipment distributor! It's an esthetician's tool for ingrown hair removal. It's just an itty bitty "c" hook on the end of a medium length handle that can hook the ingrown, or I would imagine the steatocystoma sac?!?

I need to go have this done to my arms. They are getting so big and he can see the lumps. But after what i went through when I was 18 in terrified to go to a dermatologist. I had two massive bumps on my face, one on each side. One side was over 5×4in and the other side was 3×5 in. He didn't use any numbing and just cut into my face. After draining everything, he injected something that burned. I had to go back every other day and he would Lance them and then put more stuff in. When I went back to school, college away from home, I had two massive bruises on my face. I went and bought large bandaid to cover n both sides of my face. I don't want to go through that pain ever again

I’m so sorry that happened :( I’d say be diligent in looking for reviews of doctors online, look to make sure they take their patients complaints seriously. That being said, if the lumps aren’t causing pain or are cosmetically upsetting (I have two in my inner thigh) then they’re fine as long as they’re not growing

I was just thinking hooks when you asked for it, what a coincident. I could recommend you to look for a small skin retractor Hook Gillies 18 cm 2 mm. Dentist also have interesting tools. Endodontic probe 23/17A explorer is one, 😊Jacquette Scaler U15/30 and finally Sickle scaler H6/H7 also looks interesting.

I noticed that the ones where you injected lido, after you had cut, seemed to have emptied easier and the sacs were far easier to retrieve. Could you not cut and then inject a saline solution into each bump to push out the sebum and sac?
