I know you don't like to talk about controversy regarding games but I like to share what happened with Project Hero. So there was a lot of hype from a few Sonic KZbinrs who saw Project Hero and thought that this is what 3D non-boost Sonic should play and feel like. But then the design changes got leaked and a lot of Twitter users gave it a lot of crap for the changes and believed it was no longer an Adventure fan game but rather a 3D Classic game which felt like a betrayal to some of those users. The reasoning for that criticism might be for not having a lot of 3D non-boost games that have potential to be an Adventure fan successor while there's a lot of Classic fan projects, especially 3D ones such as Robo Blast 2, which may be oversaturating the fangame community. This may have taken a toll on Hero's health which caused them to put it on hiatus. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a subtle way of saying it's cancelled which is a shame because it now seems like wasted potential and was looking forward for it to used like the Infinity Engine for boost fangames.

my gripe(s) about Sonic Illusions is it doesn't support controller use. The jank is present and abundant and I wouldn't consider that something you just learn to get used to, its just undone. Hopefully done soonish, I had to download a third party software to use controller to play and I had fun... until I legitimately couldn't. Also if you want to play Unleashed plus you could just play the Sonic Unleashed Project. It's a Sonic Generations mod but it feels incredible, actually like the game and... you get two games for one.

I totally understand your gripes with Illusions, though thankfully a lot of that jank isn't in every stage, only in some but this is still in alpha so its important to remember that these issues will most likely get fixed when the next major demo comes out when its out of alpha! Though I also would say on the same vein that I'm quite accustomed to enjoying and forgiving titles with jank, I'm the same dude that considers Sonic 3D Blast one of his favorite sonic games ever lmao xD Very true, but I wanted to give fan games that where built from the ground up the spotlight in this video, since mods use the pre existing frame work of officially created Sega games, but I do intent to do entire video about rom hacks and mods in the future and ill be sure to include the unleash project there! (before anyone says anything yes I know I broke this rule in the first video with forces overclocked, that was an exception due to the shear quality and ability to turn an otherwise sub par game into a marvelous experience )

Though I would like to throw in my own outlook on everything that you all have discussed! First I would like to point out the wording I use is different depending on the fan game, I try to use the phrase ( Is one of the top fan games ) for titles that are actually completed and or a good fair length, however I mainly used the phrase ( Could have been / Could very well be, one of the top fan games ever made ) this was to express that these games all had or have amazing potential and with more time and or effort could all be seen with the same respect and admiration that other games like TT16bit or Fallen Star are seen in! Now aside from that, I for a fact get a little more hyped up in my sonic videos then my other works, that's mainly for two reasons, 1st the good old KZbin algorithm and Sonic Fandom prefer higher energy. normally when I approach a Sonic related topic with a lower tone / lower energy vibe the video doesn't get a lot of engagement and isn't pushed as much. 2nd I honest to god just get really excited talking about this stupid blue dude (aka sonic) and that's never gonna really change lmao. Because of these factors I get more excited then in other videos I make, however the reactions / opinions are still my own and are not fake and or played up, I honestly do just get super excited talking about Sonic stuff and since KZbin likes that excitement, I play into it! And finally, on the subject of convincing people on fan games being good when they are not. Trust me that is not my goal, There are tons, and I mean TONS of low effort and or low quality titles that I could have thrown in just for the hell of it, however I wanted to keep this list to a very specific set of standards and I truly believe that all of these demos / games are solid and tons of fun! You also have to keep in mind that most of the devs that make these projects are normally amateurs and or on their own, so to me, its important to remember this when reviewing these titles, if a fan project like Sonic Action was made by an official team from Sega, then yeah Id say the game is mid, but for a small fan project, its got the makings of greatness and that deserves recognition! especially since developing games isnt easy and I sure as hell cant do it lol. Anywho! everyone is entailed to their own opinions and I doubt my comment will really change your statements and or minds, But I still wanted to just throw in my perspective on everything since well... I am the guy that made the video lmao 🤣, aside from that though I do hope you all have a fantastic day and I appreciate your comments!

I saw a previous version of Sonic vs darkness that didn't look good at all. And then, it became a pretty good looking fan game at the end. You made a good job playing all of these fan games and making a video out of them, and watching this video was pretty fun. Do you think you showcased all good looking Sonic fan games?
