That's why piracy and modding exists, when real disks fail we can make our own

True man, physical media for gaming is just dying since so many people prefer buying games digitally and even I'm part of it too since I buy games digitally on steam. Since pc gaming is all digital well even though there did used to exist physical games for pc but that no longer exist since steam and other gaming launchers exist And many stores are starting to not sell physical games anymore, since I know stores like real Canadian superstore and even toys r us no longer sell video games anymore. Like damn it is sad how those two stores no longer sell physical games anymore but I can understand they stop selling them since too many people prefer buying them digital And that hurts those stores from selling them though, which I can honestly agree how physical games won't last forever though since it sure is dying and digital media is Making a huge rise while physical media is on a downfall for good.

I was expecting a different video, one that would tell me how long a original CD/cartridge can last before it starts to decay. But anyway, I'd like to add something, since it was about "backing up" and playing on modded hardware. I think that will not solve the issue, a console will also fail. The only solution seems to be emulators that can run on any modern hardware.

It's still too early to tell definitely, how long the CDs and cartridges with last. The conditions you store the media in plays a big part. But the consoles will fail, you're right. But with a digital backup, you can move that content from one console to another
@eugenb9017 Жыл бұрын
@@SpawnTrapped I'm a bit confused. Sure, you can move the content, IF you have another console. But with the same logic, you don't need a digital backup, you can just buy the same game again...

I just took out my PS2 games so I could let my little brother play them and they work perfectly fine but personally I prefer digital games, I just wish we could trade or sell digital and I believe they should be cheaper than physical games

I have games on my PS1 and for my Sega Saturn that are in pristine condition. And I own the hardware as well. 21 consoles and counting. This is the benefit of an adult with no children. Cool video.

Should I keep collecting Blu-ray disc games?
@SpawnTrapped Жыл бұрын
I think blurays worth it. They've been shows to be much more durable. Honestly that's why I'd take a PS3 game over it's 360 version that's on DVD

Nothing is forever even for digital games because the hard drives and ssds fail and stuff
@SpawnTrapped Жыл бұрын
But a game that you rip and make digital doesn't have a license associated with it. So you can dump it to multiple hard drives and multiple consoles. Unlikely all of those hard drives fail at once

Not only that, but when the servers dies you are not gonna be able to re download the games, even if you bought the game.

Yup but I kinda think that’s a good thing because I would NOT want it live forever. It makes every second count.
