If you are Oil painting - OIL painting, at home, make sure you paint in a room or area that is separate from the rest of your home, such as a garage or attic. This is because the fumes from the actual Linseed oil in the paint are very powerful and can give you a headache. As for solvents, you don't actually need solvents to remove paint from your brushes. You can wash the paintbrushes in more clear oil, then washing detergent, then warm water. Oil residues after that which may remain in the bristles will serve to protect and maintain the bristles;- your brushes will last longer. If you have to use solvents, you can use odourless thinners.

At the beginning, was this black canvas wet? and if so, what was used? I admire Mr. Alexander and would love to create a painting like this one. Thanks to all involved in making and posting this video(s) and thanks to Mr. Alexander.
@goldslinger4 жыл бұрын
Edwin Quinones No, it was painted with black gesso or acrylic and allowed to dry completely. He uses transparent colors over it. Not special paint, the usual yellow, red, etc.

At some point these original video tapes were store tails in, the audio bleed through is post actual rather than pre actual if they had been stored tails out.

When’s the next shows flash up on the screen it covers up his painting.
@kgt7500 Жыл бұрын
It's kinda funny. In a handful of episodes of Joy of Painting Bob Ross literally says he invented the black canvas painting style and says things like "I can't believe nobody ever thought of this" and "Getting this look is why I invented the Black Gesso." Surely, he knew he wasn't the first person to make a canvas black and then apply transparent colors to it. It's just weird that he'd say that on multiple occasions when he was well aware of Bill Alexander and learned the technique from him. And it isn't like he was just claiming to have come up with his own black gesso variation. He flat out says he can't believe nobody painted on a black canvas before.
@shawn438711 ай бұрын
He never said he invented it lol
