Evening Prayers 1988 orchestrations

I'm not a trained musician but I'm very good at translating and rotating notes from ear to score. Before the Les Mis orchestrations were freely available online in trading groups, I attempted to recreat that original John Cameron orchestration and for using only my ears, did a pretty accurate job. I have been toying around with the idea of doing that for Carrie. But like for everybody else these type of things take a long time to finish. But when I'm really motivated I get into a groove and can move fast. This inspires me to look into it more. This is a very good job for someone who doesn't have the score or only has a very damaged/unreadable one. Great job!

This is wonderful. I had no idea anyone was interested in this but based on the comments here, there is some interest in this show's orchestration. I love the Broadway orchestration. The Stratford one is way over the top and pretentious. So glad they at least had the sense to tone it down for Broadway, creating the definitive orchestration. Too bad the show only lasted a few performances and a bunch of previews.I always daydream of a very bored millionaire out there who loves this musical and would do anything to see it in its original production. Imagine said millionaire investing in a meticulous recreation of the original Broadway production down to the finest detail, complete with the original Broadway orchestrations and cheesy sets? That would seriously be a dream come true. If I were that millionaire, I'd let it run for s short time only just for the fans to see. Then I would bring it back every now and then. But wouldn't that ruin the intrigue surrounding it? If everyone could see it. It wouldn't be so special anymore, lol. I'm silly, ignore me, LOL.

Question about the orchestrations- I know, when it comes to the soundboard of the closing night, there is a direct source to the pit and the floor/body mics. However, on some (especially older) soundboard audios, these channels were separate, often with one being in the left and the other in the right. I know most versions of the closing night SB have both in one, but is it possible that they were originally recorded through two separate inputs?

I received it from an anonymous source. But I feel as a though I would clarify a few things about the score seeing as though there are understandably a lot of questions. 1. It’s barely readable. The score was sent to me digitally and the pages are very fuzzy and blurry. Which makes it hard for anyone to read 2. SEVERAL!! pages and songs are missing about 1/4 of the score is not there. I’ve actually had to go and fill in some of the missing parts by listening to the closing night audio recordings. 3. The score Itself may be a fake. There is no way for me to be certain of this, but given the rarity of this item. It makes me very skeptical of it’s legitimacy. 4. I’m currently working on restoring this score. Once that is finished I plan to release it to the fandom. But that’s going to take a lot of time.

@@carriethemusical7289 Fascinating. A restoration of the orchestration will be a hell of an undertaking and no doubt rife with quandaries (e.g. do you restore some of the Stratford orchestration or limit it to the Broadway take? etc.) but I wish you well. If I had the musical skill I'd have long ago taken a crack at it myself.

As Margaret White might say, you are doing the Lords work! Amazing stuff. The original orchestrations are outstanding and create such an atmosphere.
