Great video! As a lawyer also practising on the litigation side in Bangalore, India I can definitely relate to many of the struggles you guys talk about like long hours, crazy deadlines and external pressures. But implementing good habits and routines, no matter how tough or annoying they may be go a long way to exerting control and giving you peace of mind when it feels like work is overbearing and taking over everything else. It is only because I make my fitness and pursuit of other hobbies a non-negotiable by budgeting time during the mornings or whenever it is appropriate to fit in which is one of the main reasons I haven’t yet lost my sanity or burnt out like so many other bright young graduates who I’ve seen quit within a span of a few months. Something I’ve learned over the last couple of years since I graduated is that change is incremental and tough and it takes focus and consistency over a long period of time before there is less mental resistance to do that task. So keeping at it even if it’s a few minutes a day can go a long way to not break the momentum and keeping that habit going. A new idea which I’ve independently been realising and implementing in my life as well is the ‘less screen time’ philosophy. Like everyone in the modern world and especially our generation, during college my screen time was unchecked and I was addicted to my phone. Through conscious effort and a lot of struggle and tracking screen time, I’ve been able to almost eliminate all social media and my screen time doesn’t exceed more than a couple of hours a day with only weekends being higher. My most used apps during the weekday is also Whatsapp which I’m completely okay with. I feel that out of the so called “bad” habits which I’ve had to beat or overcome, breaking a screen addiction to use my phone less and only when I need it has so far been the hardest challenge.

Great video as always!! Plus it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who feels that going to bed on a full stomach can cause your sleep pattern to be disruptive.

Thanks for watching! And for sure, it happens from time to time to us still and we never get a really good sleep as a result. Much better to have some time between eating and sleeping

Thanks for sharing another great video, Em and Lloyd. Could you possibly do a video on how to manage billable hours, managing multiple deals/matters, and your insight on how to do very well during your first year at a large law firm? God bless!

Very thorough routine! A robotic vacuum cleaner can help clean too. Good choice on Gunnar glasses. A KZbin eye doctor recommended that brand too. You guys are a relationship goal who share chores, haha. Very sweet. Thanks for sharing your email too! I'll drop you a line at some point.

Thanks Aidan! Sharing is caring and it's definitely much easier when we get chores done together, rather than one person having to do them all :) and feel free to reach out to us anytime!

Hi guys! Love your work. Would you guys consider doing a video about immigrating elsewhere from the perspective of a hong kong qualified lawyer? I think most of us have at least thought about the possibility of moving elsewhere but is puzzled by the jurisdictional aspect of being a locally qualified lawyer. Difficulties, challenges but perhaps an opportunity also. The allure of staying, possibility of moving, fear of economic downturn coming to hong kong etc

I really enjoy your videos and glad that I found you both. I wanted to know if you will or have posted videos for future lawyers based in US, who are interested in practicing outside of the US? If needed I can send a detailed email. I am interested in applying for firms in another country like Hong Kong and the best way to prepare for applying or possible internship or summer associates?

Thank you so much! This is an area that we ourselves are not particularly familiar with (given that we both went to university in Hong Kong and worked here too), but we will have a think about how to create some content which may help with this

It’s really contradicting with the video earlier that you telling how busy you are at work and staying in office until late night. Nevertheless it’s entertaining watching all the fake scripted persona and how a narcissist living in their own world though. 😂
