Arwen well settled - when Aragorn, to whom she was married, died, she returned to Thranduil - she loved both? Well, she just had to wait until Legolas fall in love and marries someone... but really, why waste time? :) I'm realy hurt for Thranduil! But I like final scene.

Even though she was married to Aragorn why should she waste years living alone? Lonely with only memories that was the hardest part for elves and that is the hardest part for senior women who outlive their husbands usually on average 20 years. I have known many women throughout my professional as well as personal life who should have moved forward found companionship just like men do but there seemed to be something wrong in the view of society that these widows shouldn't find any companionship of someone new happiness. We love people in different ways. There is always room in our hearts or in our arms to provide shelter From the winding Wheels of Time for when you're with someone that you enjoy spending time with it's almost as if time stops.

Wow perfect ending should have been added to tolkien's ideas. It would help with understanding the king better it would help us know what happened to Arwen after Aragorn died in the history books as she's not mentioned it would make sense that she would find an elf to spend her last days with. Only an elf would really understand and she really couldn't go to a human a man because her son is the king no it could be dangerous but if she marries the Elf King no one would care and she would have someone who would understand her, support her. But we all know that the reason we like this King is who plays the part this man this actor turned this character that basically really didn't exist into a reality this is called true acting when the actor is able to take the idea of the author the script writer the director costumer and make the Spirit of the character being played so real it begins to suspend disbelief. One becomes enthralled in the movement the nuances and the truly good character work without even spoken words that comes through. He didn't need words to represent the requirements and Immortal power that would be found in an Elven King. Torn Between the loss of his wife and the love of a son and her choosing death to save the child over immortal life to live with her immortal husband. He didn't know if she loved him the weakness of any man's heart.

Well actually, we do know what happened to her. Basically, when Aragorn died, she went to Lorien and died there, because being the daughter of Elrond, she could give up her immortality, which she did Also, it's kinda wierd in elven culture to remary, even more on Thranduil's side since his wife is an elf too

@@annemillou9538 yes because his wife is supposed to be waiting for him over in Lorien if that's part of the mythology that really she's not dead she's over in the land of the Eternal Light what you see for him to go there he would have to give up his kingdom is people everything he knows and possibly his son and I'm not sure how he would deal with that and you see he doesn't know if she loved him as he loved her the question of someone like that. That's why he Drake so he could remember the past remember what he thought was their perfect love and forget the pain of everything that happened he wasn't of the perfect elves and that's where the Elvis found themselves caught between living with men and the Perfection of being else kind of like Angels trapped on earth watching us yeah? Tolkien's philosophies were very complicated.

@@valiantsfelinesmccarty6678 Okay, so yes, his wife is supposed to be alive in Aman, (what you call "land of eternal light, which is not the same as Lorien btw) and I get that he can't leave his people like that, but even if they are separated, him and his wife are still married, so he can't really marry someone else... On the second point you make YES, he knows that she loves him, since they are MARRIED (that's kinda the point) And finally, the "perfect elves" are called High Elves. Now -if you're ready for some tolkien mythology- the Elves were never really "caught between living with men" and going to Aman, since when the future High Elves went to Aman, Men were not awoken yet. The elves were called by the Valar (kinda the gods) to join them, and some of them stayed behind, like Thranduil and his father.
