The peeing in a stall, the identifying people by their horses, and car full of stuff is spot on.

About the food... A "horse people" will sit down on a bench right next to a bucket of manure and calmly eat his lunch. If he is fortunate his horse won't be standing behind him trying to grab a ham sandwich. "Naughty horse! You're a vegetarian!"

It was actually straw and straw is waaaay lighter than hay. Anyone can lift straw. Straw probably weighs about 20 lbs. while alfalfa probably weighs up to 50-60 lbs.

Love riding in the snow, especially when it's falling and all you can hear is the soft shuffle of hooves and the high pitched tingle of ice crystals hitting one another, or on a night when the moon is out and the snow is still new. I know this is an old post but is still sort of a running conversation.

I love this video, it reminds me of when I went to buy my first car. I had some specific requirements for my car; age, number of kilometres, and how much hay you could fit in the boot. I'm sure the car dealer thought we were crazy when we asked to see the boot of every car he suggested to us in our price range and we would just stand there looking at the boot of hatchbacks etc. even after dad explained that we were trying to calculate how much hay would fit I think the dealer still thought we were weird.

EquiiAlbi Yes that is true! snow can be tricky. If it is really soggy and deep snow, or a wet snow that froze it can be dangerous for you and your horse. :( Light fluffy snow is the best to ride in. This past winter was very hard for me to get out in, because I do not have an indoor arena. It was bitter cold, and lots of snow. And freezing rain under that snow!

That messy car thing cracked me up. Between the dog and the tack there is barely space for us. My co-worker (who has seen our car) once told me she was in the parking lot of a fast food place and a truck pulled in with a horse farm logo on the door and when they got out it was as full as ours. She asked me "Is it a horse thing?"

Although I haven't ridden in years and was an indifferent rider when I did, I still resemble the horse people much more than the "regular" people (whoever they are). This is quite funny, definitely mirrors how some people can be. Although I live in a city, I'm glad that being the daughter of a former farmgirl has saved me from certain "regular person" tendencies.

The peeing one is so true! My friend doesn't horse ride and she always has to pee. One day she said, "man I gotta pee." And I said, "if you have to pee go to the bathroom!" then she said, "I hate public bathrooms, especially school ones." whatever you say....
