One of the most challenging home movie films to scan so far. Still, there is very watchable footage from years gone by. Note, the "Baby Carriage Parade" Enjoy!

Thank you for these videos. I’m a great fan of Pennsylvania history. This video connects me to a Pennsylvania that’s long gone, never to return sadly.

This is a great video and valuable source of Bangor history. Problem is that this is most likely a video of the 1936 Slate Centennial parade in Bangor October 3,1936. Excerpts from the 1936 Slate Centennial Souvenir Program are consistent with the parade which started after a roller derby at Sixth and Market streets in Bangor. Incidentally, one interesting feature of the centennial was a parachute jump made at 4pm every day of the centennial over the center of town.

Fantastic and way before my time. I was caught by the fact that not many are smiling and i am not the only one who saw that. still it helps many know where our town came from to where it is today..

Footage may actually be two different parades - one is actually from 1936. Also, more likely Armistice Day, not Fourth of July - none of the men are wearing Panama hats or straw boaters, suits are not summer weight, and women's clothing not summer attire. Nevertheless, great shots of a bygone age. With no television, video games, internet, Facebook, or other similar forms of entertainment, something like this would have been a big draw of locals. You would never get this big a crowd today.

Women didn't wear their hair as long as I thought they did. Now 99% of women ware their hair long.
