I believe that the jury members were simply so carried away by Diana's singing that they simply forgot that they were not ordinary spectators, but also judges. It was a funny moment when they caught themselves at the same time, realizing that the song was coming to an end, and yet not a single green button was pressed.

Incidentally, I've been listening to a few alternative vocalists for several decades and this is why I am bored to death by mainstream singers. Dead Can Dance, the Cocteau Twins' first albums, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Toyah. Exposure to different vocal styles, I think, increases one's expectations so that it's nearly impossible to settle for anything less interesting.

Well, low female voices are still found on the pop scene, not just in opera or jazz. Although D3 A5 is not very common, yes. And for one performer with contralto, there are twenty soprano singers. Listening to Diana, I always remember Tanita Tikaram (if we talk about timbre and depth of voice). Hello Altglaubiger, not all the singers you list are familiar to me. I have to check it. For me "Alexandra" is the closest to Diana Ankudinova's timbre. And the following days over 80 million who watched the contest when posted on KZbin spit on the judges. But she got her revenge the following year and year thereafter by winning not only the Russian contests in two consecutive years but 60 more awards and contests. (Ты супер!) dezenas de vezes, então não é interromper o que eu já sei o que se sucede, mas a tua reação a cada fração de segundo do que tu vê e ouve dela em toda a extensão da apresentação. Sim, há nas apresentações dela alguma fração que se possa interromper sem perder o sentimento da parte em questão, mas são raros, pois que tenho prazer em assistir cada fração de segundos de suas apresentações em sua sequência. My understanding of the song is that it is about a very young girl whose mother has died and has become a spirit that lives in the river. The young girl is to be married & comes to the river to speak with her mother about the situation that she is in. I believe that Diana was orphaned and had some abuse in early childhood, and then did not speak for years. All of this makes for a unique voice & an otherworldly performance.
