Thank you for the detailed explanation, really nice work. I think you missed on below conditional formatting formula, a comma and 2. To state that Monday and first day and shown as 1. Because with your formula this calendar on the screen is showing Friday and Saturdays as weekend. (of course if this your purpose, than it is correct). =WEEKDAY(E4,2)>5

@eturker You are right, well spotted! I think what I meant to do is add the 2 as parameter this makes it simpler to isolate weekends as they are 6 and 7.
