Its kind of inspiring seeing someone who you look at as a tough guy or hardened fighter still experience the same emotions as us regular guys

Just watched your video with Lex and it was so inspiring. Gave me a lot of wisdom and advice to work upon. The bit about radical and accepting the costs and negatives of doing something that makes you happy was really powerful. Would love more of these

Hi I am off training for a bit and I am trying to think through my game and watching the match I lost in my most recent tournament. I found that I seem to be failing to finish Uki Goshi(well a half hip in O Goshi), Id love some advice for finishing it. I bounce my opponent with the hip bump and they are circling out. Some context this usually comes from a low position with my forehead against their chest and a grip on their belt from either sides. My stance is too low for hari o-goshi and I am too close for a full hip turn. I am thinking of trying an ichi mata instead in order to prevent them moving off but I don't want to give up on the O-goshi. I would love any advice I hope I portrayed the position correctly.

Mate you faced some good players throughout your career doesn't mean you weren't a legit world class Judoka. In terms of remembering people I think Rinner will still be known in twenty years from now.

Unrelated question: Sensei Travis do you think Tawara gaeshi can be successfully used against the blast double leg takedown? It worked for me against a sloppy double leg takedown but I was wondering if it would work against a high level wrestler? Thanks.
@tannersemb82492 жыл бұрын
This is a really late reply but wrestlers call it a "chest wrap" and Kyle Dake is a fantastic wrestler who has used it with success at a high level

What's your opinion on the rules. IMO taking out the yuko score made judo a lot worse. Way too many throws that shouldn't have been waza-aris, are scored as waza-ari, and way to many throws are scored as ippon, that should have been waza-aris, at the most.
@nach000x3 жыл бұрын
I kinda agree but olympic matches still took a pretty long time and most went to golden score
@henrikg13883 жыл бұрын
@@nach000x Well, then I guess judokas have to take the matter into their own hands and finish the fight with a pin or a submission, or just not roll over in an Ippon throw.

Hey Travis, could you do a video about dealing with negative/overly defensive judokas? Nothing more frustrating!
