@@aarongreer7621 Only people with no extra oxygen bottles trains like athletes. Most people just pay a expensive ticket to get to the summit, only carrying their backpack with personnel food and gear for the day. The rest is carried by sherpas.
@aarongreer7621
@aarongreer7621 3 жыл бұрын
@@tobiaslindberg3118 That is incorrect. Individual climbers carry their personal gear and some water. This excludes most of the food and supplementary oxygen. The Sherpas carry communal water, most of the food for the group, and the supplementary oxygen bottles. Climbers are expected to train like high-performance athletes prior to their trek. If they don't, they run a very high risk of overexerting and injuring themselves, and possibly even the others in their group. That is why Sherpas will force people to descend Everest if they are concerned about those people's physical condition.

@@the_bottomfragger I've seen dark skies at 1000m and at 3000m. I don't think there's a particularly notable difference if the light pollution is equally low. Of course, at 3000m it's "more likely" that you are further away from light pollution on average. But it's the location and distance from cities that matters most. Otherwise, at higher altitudes you might notice slightly less twinkling from stars but it doesn't really enable you to see "more".

It’s incredible that Reinhold Messner climbed Everest twice without supplementary oxygen, once solo. He also climbed all of the other 14 8000 meter peaks alpine style, the first to do so. In saying that, the Sherpas are invaluable and heroes for their roles in the success of all the summits. Sir Ed respected them by supporting them all his life after his success.

@@actuallydudethatwouldbesal7644 Mt Everest is nearly 9 kilometres high. From Lukla to Everest Base Camp is 65klm and can take up to two weeks, and up to two months to the summit as you acclimate to the oxygen levels at new heights and trek up the slopes by foot. And you actually freely admit that you thought he would speed run up in three minutes? 9 kilometres?? Vertical??? The saddest part of all this is that you seem comfortable in your justified stupidity, and that unfortunately is the way of the world now. I continue to shake my head.

Loren Zager nah, unless you’re between twenty to thirty years old and you have years of climbing experience you’re pretty likely to either die yourself or put other people’s lives in danger. In fact this is already happening on the mountain with summit agencies taking anyone up if they have the money even if they don’t have any experience. Oh and like I said before there’s so many people climbing and dying on the mountain that the mountain is becoming covered in dead bodies, urine, and feces. Like you’re guaranteed to see plenty of dead bodies since they are now used as landmarks to get up the mountain.
