Just received my PLC20L a couple days ago. I can confirm the the 2021 M1 16in MacBook Pro fits very nicely in the laptop compartment! My only slight disappointment is that the inside slip pocket doesn’t fit the 2021 11” iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard. I would have preferred that the “pencil” pocket not be there to give a little more space for this slip pocket. Over all I just really love this bag! Well made, well designed and typical Evergood quality!

Great video! If you haven’t already, I think you can get a little more volume in the quick access pocket by pulling the excess fabric out of the back panel. Mine was stuffed in there when I got it.

I'm jealous of those it works for. I was really excited about it. The length is (finally) perfect for my 17" torso but...I can't get the bag close enough to my back. Maybe the other yolk would have helped or load lifters. The straps are too long for me as they go as far as they can go and I can't pull any more to make them tighter. I would also like a removable strap at the bottom of the bag to prevent it from bouncing around on me. So glad they used their new back, no sharp edges. Yay. Glad they included a stash pocket. Like the additional mesh pockets inside. Their interior is always very classy. I would have liked a way to seal/protect the top of my laptop (I always prefer a separate laptop compartment), an inside pocket for my water bottle (which might have made the bag off-kilter so I can see why they skipped it). I don't really understand the wasted space on the outside bottom. I wonder if it could have been more useful. I would have liked to see two pockets in the front pocket which I don't think would have compromised the volume. Aesthetically, it feels neither here nor there. I miss the other fabric. I know people complained but I think it had a lived-in look that spoke to me. And the shapes of their bags along with the previous fabric and yoke made a black bag feel new. No easy feat. To me, this has too much of an air of Aer. No matter, I am an EG fangirl and will always be. I would have preferred a V2 of the CHZ22, maybe shortened it a hair, replaced the back with the new one...and made some other improvements. I'm always happy when they do well. You can't always get what you want but I'm thrilled a lot of people did.

Awesome review! Question: do you know if the external dump pocket offer any kind of water resistance for say wet jackets, unbrellas etc?
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. The compartments are separate so by definition yes. There’s no drain holes though on that pocket so the water isn’t going anywhere and could soak through after a while. I think you’d be good for damp items but not soaking wet things. I have used it with a standard Nalgene bottle that would shed water and it’s not caused any issues.

Hey JB, what are your top 3 favorite super packable backpacks to pack in a backpack or duffle to pull out to use as a daypack at a destination. I'm currently using and have been on my last 3 trips the Bellroy Lite Daypack, but being a bag nerd I'm always looking for more/better, any tips?
@JBOutside19 ай бұрын
I'd say my top 3 bags I pack with me are 1. some kind of bullet (even a heritage style) 2. Several Matador packables (they're all good). 3. a descent sling (take your pick). Those are what I'm packing these days.
@ES-yc1tp2 жыл бұрын
Hey man I have a question, what happens when you stuff a lot of things on the front pocket? Does it get in the way of the space in the main compartment? Does it make it inaccessible like in other packs? I have a TNF Borealis and keep most of my stuff on the quick access pocket but it gets in the way of the main pack which is awful because it makes the pack very top loaded hehe.
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
that front pocket has plenty of dimension built in to it so you can stuff that pocket pretty full before it impacts the main compartment. From my inside view you can see some bunched up fabric on the inside front panel...that's the front pocket so it WILL minimally impact the main compartment but its design keeps most of that volume in its own space up front.

How durable are the materials and how would it hold up to the elements? My dayhiking needs are the ability to just grab my work/tech bag and all the edc shit I usually have on me and just go in the woods and dayhike with whatever I have in it at the time. Will it be fine with the abrasian of being laid down on dirt or knocking against tree bark on occasion and all that jazz?

great video! was hoping you'll cover how you'd deal with a water bottle, but that's all good
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
Good point, as this was an initial impressions type of thing I didn't cover that...but I would put a water bottle in the front pocket - it's cavernous! Plus it would keep any condensation away from the tech in the main compartment no problem. Thanks for asking the question Kelvin! Keep 'em coming! 👊🏻
@konglip2 жыл бұрын
@@JBOutside1 that’s a very valid consideration, separating the potential condensation from the tech. Was just wondering if a large enough bottle in the front pocket will upset the balance of the bag, and cause it to topple while the bag is standing? Especially if the main compartment is relatively empty

Best guess is about 9.5"x5.5". That's the size of the EVERGOODS CAP2L and it fits sideways in the bottom of the PLC20.

Great review. Quick question. I usually ruck about 3 miles with a 30lb ruck plate to/from work. I use a GR1 for this, but have been looking for a more office-friendly replacement. Given all your rucking experience, how do you think the PLC20 would handle that? I was thinking that putting the ruck place in the laptop sleeve might do the trick. Thanks!
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend that. The laptop sleeve is elevated so it's going to stress parts of that bag with 30lbs in it. Will it fit? Yep, but I don't think it will last that long. If you're rucking, my recommendation would be the GR1 like you have or a rucker. Maybe a more conservative color? 🤷🏼♂️
@matthew27392 жыл бұрын
@@JBOutside1 Hey, I had one other idea about potentially rucking with this. Do you think a ruck plate will fit into the framesheet compartment? I have a cordura cover for the ruck plate so it won't eat through the backpack's nylon, it's just a matter of whether it will fit. Thanks for your thoughts and all your great videos!
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
@@matthew2739 Nice thought, but the opening is pretty small for the frame sheet. You wouldn't be able to get a Rucker-sized plate in there without ripping/modifying the opening. You might be able to get a GR-sized plate but not sure.

hows that bag feel on long hikes? hear a lot of people complaining about the straps; slippery, not as comfortable, etc. I even heard someone say its the worst straps they ever had on a backpack ever.
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
The straps are definitely the worst part. My Phoenix straps are awesome so not sure why they did what they did on the PLC20. The padding is meh and like the video shows…that sound! 😤comfort is just ok, not terrible but definitely not as comfortable as the Phoenix

As always EVERGOODS really think things through. But nevertheless, did not you wish, they would have kept their former material? I know that EVERGOODS chose it so it could fit in an office envioroment, hence picking up dust and hair would not be very good. But I really do not associate this material (even though high quality) with EVERGOOD'S philosophy of creating "cross-over" gear. Anyway, the backpack is great with just the right amount of organization for everyday carry. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Vienna, Janette

I’m still not clear why this bag exists vs the cpl.
@JBOutside12 жыл бұрын
It's a simpler bag for a more defined purpose or market from what I can tell where the CPL tries to cover a lot of use cases. I have the Phoenix version (obviously) and it's way more "complicated" of a bag with a lot of things going on. I enjoy the simple PCL20 for what it is and I've been looking for a more slimmed down EDC bag with more features compared to the GORUCK Bullets...so this works.
@afiq9802 жыл бұрын
There are some days that I don't carry that much, and although I really love the CPL, I would want a smaller bag for that specific day. CPL20 is the "I am carrying this much and nothing much more" kind of bag, I just got it and loving it.
