Not really. They're not WAY ahead of their time. Even this album doesn't sound so innovative. This is not a hate comment, it's just that, to me, when it comes to being "ahead of their time", we really need to make the right decision on which bands that are deserved to be called ahead of their time. To me, Evergreen Terrace is not one of them. These are the bands that I think ahead of their time, especially in the hardcore/metalcore scene: 7 Angels 7 Plagues (Until the Day Breathes and the Shadows Flee, 2000) Vision of Disorder (Imprint, 1998) Turmoil (The Process Of..., 1999) Poison the Well (The Opposite of December, 1999) Snapcase (Progression Through Unlearning, 1997) Hopesfall (No Wings to Speak Of, 2001) The Dillinger Escape Plan (Calculating Infinity, 1999) Every Time I Die (The Burial Plot Bidding War, 1999) Luti-Kriss, now known as Norma Jean (Throwing Myself, 2001) Botch (We Are the Romans, 1999) And many many more..

Honestly I dig this. I have seen a lot of bands on Rise lately that seem to be trying to revive oldschool Hardcore, and frankly I think most of them fail to deliver. But this is the kind of melodic hardcore I can get behind, and fuses creative elements of the alternative scene as well. Solid sound. Always nice to hear something refreshing!

One of my first concerts was these guys in 2003 in a tiny ass venue in Corona, CA. One of the most brutal shows ever. Even got to sing with the band. Glad they're still around

This is raw as hell. To those saying 'lose the screamer', I'd bet any money that you'd just call this another "radio rock band" along with something about Rise being shit. Rise needs more bands like this - it gives a good variety to the label.

Who the fuck says any of this. Evergreen's been around since 1999 and they've ALWAYS had screaming. They aren't radio rock, but this is far more easy-listening than most of their former stuff. They lose the screamer and they lose what made them in the beginning. Who the fuck thinks they know better than a band who's been successful for 16 years?

Xenophontis Mostly the only reason I love this song is because they toned down on the screamo, it's a very hit or miss addition to songs, it all falls on whether you can do it well or not. And for Evergreen Terrace it kinda seems like they're trying it to a way where it doesn't gel well. I fucking love their beats of their songs, but the screamo I mostly feel is there to interrupt the good parts :/ but of course, it's all personal preference and all that.
