Evergy bands falcon chicks in spring 2024

We recently banded 8 peregrine falcon chicks at Iatan Generating Station, Hawthorn Generating Station and our Topeka General Office (TGO). We worked with the Missouri Department of Conservation, USDA Wildlife Services and Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks and Tourism to carry out this process, which allows for the organization to track the migration of the birds as well as monitor estimated population growth. This interaction and process does not harm the birds. This video details the banding process at Iatan, Hawthorn and TGO.
Evergy's avian protection program is a part of a national effort to keep peregrine falcons, the fastest birds in the world, off of the endangered species list as well as to reduce the harmful effects of electrical equipment and their habitats.

Have any prior falcons been reported from the bands in other places from the 2 Evergy nests 5:47 - how far ? how old of bird? Are the adults banded the same ones from prior years ?

This is the same adult pair at Iatan that was present last year. Although last year breeding was not successful. The pair at hawthorn are first time breeders. The male has been present for two years, but finally a female showed up. Current offspring from Iatan hatch in 2019 are now breeding adults in a couple nest boxes downtown/plaza are in KCMO.
