Great help, thank you. One of my top favorite songs. The most challenging part of it I find it to be the 16ths on the hi hat. Been making progress but still struggling a bit with it. Between the right stick occasionally getting stuck under the hi hat when returning from the snare, or focusing so hard on the 2 hands that the bass drum suffers...

I know the parts and I've been working on this for a year. My problem in drumming had always been speed. I use metronome and gradually speed up, but I hit a certain bpm and my 16th notes start to get uneven and I lose control of the bass drums. I keep a loose grip on my sticks but gosh darn I get tired.
@LearnSomeDrums7 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely no "expert" on speed but I find this exercise pretty handy for improving 16ths. R R R R R R R R L L L L L L L L RLRLRLRLRLRLRLR LRLRLRLRLRLRLRL First part is 8th notes, second part 16ths. It's great because you have to start with each hand so it helps your non dominant hand. Concentrate on whether you're using mostly wrists or mostly fingers. Definitely try NOT to use your shoulder/arm because these are bigger muscles they don't help you go as fast. I think you can probably get wrist speed up to 180 - 200bpm. Then add kick drum playing different combinations - quarter notes, or 8th notes between both feet, samba ostinato. That will help your kick drum co-ordination too! Hope that helps!

Try to keep the left hand low so it doesn’t have too far to travel. Then you can maybe work some shoulder/tip (of the stick) technique into your right hand and then with practice that will help your speed for this beat!

Advanced Gaming ok. The beat stays the same throughout the whole song. No fills or any differences from the beat except on the fourth measure on the 4-bar phrase. Just snare, kick & high hat. Bass drum is only 1, 3, & 4. The hi-hat is on every 'and' & the snare goes on 2e & the 'and of 4' hitting with the hi-hat for the first 3 measures & then it switches to the on beat of 4 for the last measure of the 4-bar phrase alternating from the hi-hat, which is just continuously playing on the 'and' of every beat
