Looks like I need a new headset...I'll get around to it sometime. No video upload from me, sorry. Ranger Tips: 1. Arrow damage has a REDUCED chance to break root, but still has a small chance. If root keeps breaking look for procs from the melee weapons, dd damage procs will break root if the weapon has a proc chance on spell casts. (weapons with heal procs are best, or just live with it...usually not a huge deal) 2. The spell buff rangers have that adds a proc (one parries melee damage and he other is a damage proc) will proc in melee or bow attacks. 3. Fluster/Bluster are punt roots with a added 100% memory wipe debuff on the mob, but it's on a delay. When it wipes agro you'll see a red drop fall over the head of the mob. The root breaks a lot because it's a lev 80 and 85 spell I believe. 4. Look for the aa rangers get that a root. (Sylvan Grasp I think is the name) It's on a 30sec cooldown and is a super strong root that I have never seen resisted unless the mob was immune to root/snare. 5. All root spells/effects rangers get are stronger, and harder to resist, than other classes get. I think they get a passive class bonus to them. 6. Make a social macro with all roots on it (Vinelash, fluster, bluster, and aa root) Since the punt roots break a lot the aa root and vinelash will give you time to wait on fluster/bluster to refresh. (note: fluster and bluster cost 0 mana) 7. General rule of thumb: Humanoids=bow, anything else=melee unless they hit too hard....then bow them down while watching TV...it'll take a while. If they summon or immune to root, forget about them unless boxing or in a group. 8. I LOVE just having my shaman paired with my ranger. The extra haste and the ability to have a tank merc for extra bow damage really is nice...plus you don't need to use the shaman for anything other than buffs, an extra merc(healer), and of course the aura. This also opens up mobs that rangers normally don't like (summoners and root immune)...I suspect T1 rares might be doable in current content if you don't mind alt tabbing a lot to have the shaman help keep the tank merc alive. I haven't tried it myself though. I'm on the CT server and Ranger's name is Wayleaf. My necro is Waydark. Send me a tell across server if you feel like it to ask questions. Rock on.

Good video. At 24:20 you commented that Bind Sight was not useful. In some situations it's actually very useful. For example, if there's a mob that's roamig in and out of a building and there are many other mobs inside, you can bind sight on the roamer, watch it walk in, then you can get a good look at everything inside. You can then target those mobs inside, re-bind sight to one of those, use Harmony (or the equivalent high level calming/lulling) spells to perform really cool split pulls. It used to work in the old days when pulling 2nd floor of Plane of Hate :)

I have started playing my Ranger again lately and I think I can help.... 1. Flusterbolt, Blusterbolt, and Vinelash should never leave your spell bar. They are key tools for fighting, pulling, and crowd control. Play around with them and figure out how to use them. 2. Range damage is your bread and butter nowadays...some will argue, but they're stuck in the past. 3. City of Bronze is a great place to learn how to solo and get great xp at that level range. (aa xp) 4. Ranger bow damage is literally doubled when the mob is being tanked by a player, merc, or pet. Rooted mobs don't count for this! This means when using Pureshot disc the double damage turns into 4x damage for it's duration! I run a shaman box+heal merc with my Ranger+tank merc and the xp is uber fast just grinding mobs because of this damage bonus. I've been super busy and all I want to do with my free time is just play EQ and have not felt like making new videos for a long time. Sorry...I have some topics I need to touch on when I finally make a few...but I really just need to be in the mood to troubleshoot my mic issues. I'm putting it off. LOL Rock on man.

Scarlet Cheetah's Fang is a really nice group burn buff. The group burn buffs are the main reason I made a heroic Ranger. SCF was a big one, because a couple expansions ago when Berzerkers were super OP, a group with two berserkers would twincast Dichotomic Rage and absolutely destroy mobs for millions of damage in a few seconds. Man that was fun! Health bars would just disappear. Timer 7 Spells are the Claimed Shots spell line that boost your ranged DPS substantially. You'll want to use this line early in your rotation for ranged attack. Timer 8 Spells are the Ambush spells like Stealthy Shot. Be sure to open with the ambush if adds are not a concern, and if you have the space to work with. It lands for some nice critical damage typically. Keep Poison Arrows AA up always. This is essentially a buff that you won't have to recast. It has a nice DD proc from the bow. I'm not sure if this will effect root because I'm a Ranger nOOb. I agree with you on ranged DPS being much better, at least before we have any AA's to invest. I'm still grinding to 120, so I haven't had any AA's to spend. I never solo with my Ranger though, that would be too painfully slow for me personally lol. Love your content! Thank you for sharing.

@@hammackj My big project right now with him and my 98 wizard is trying to set up the hotbars so that the buttons are intuitive. You touched on that a bit too. Is there a way to color code the buttons generated by the hotkey output under AA's? For example, Wildstalkers Unity will let you make a hotkey for the bar. I'd like to make it and all my "buff" type buttons light green.

Finished the video and OMG!...it was painful to watch bro! LOL You have motivated me to put up a video tomorrow...I'll go over my macros and what spells do as well as certain mechanics of how things work together. No offense. Playing a modern day Ranger in EQ1 is not the most intuitive thing in the world. The class has undergone so much fundamental change over the years...in vanilla EQ it was really a "light tank" class. This is why a lot of people are stuck on the melee ranger thing because it was moved to a dps class...then they got super good bow damage in PoP era that required a heavy nerf to bow damage. So then the melee rangers just got used to dps in melee....but then more tuning to archery over the years has made range dps king solo/groups/raids. Melee dps can still work OK, but Rangers die so easy and they live MUCH longer at range;> A Dead Ranger does 0 dps damage it turns out...funny how that works;> I'll try to come through on the video tomorrow man. Rock on.

@@hammackj Yeah, good point. Sorry if I was a little insulting...the class has undergone so many identity changes over the years it has a lot of confusing information. AA's with wrong descriptions, spells with the same....this breaks root, that doesn't...I didn't mean to insult your EQ knowledge. It's cool.

Making a heroic character that starts at level 100, to a brand new player that has never played EQ before, on live server, has to be insanely confusing. I played on classic from release to slightly after velious came out, and tried this myself, and I was so insanely confused, had absolutely no clue what 99% of the shit was. AA's didn't even exist when I quit playing. So I can't even grasp how confusing it must be to a brand new player.
