Lol been waiting for this for 20 years. Kill stealing has always been a major problem for eq attracting new players. Love this change. Could not be more excited. This is the most I've looked forward to a new idea Daybreak has ever presented since canceling EQ next. Hate away. Can't wait for this.

Also to one of your other points. How the heck is the schedule of release too slow? Most people can't no life EQ. We have careers and shit. If anything it's too fast.

This won't really help newer players with ksing too much as older players will still ks anyway by simply targeting and hitting the mobs prior to new characters, and take the mobs anyway. The GMs are going to have to be out in force. I do enjoy them forcing characters to level up normally instead of being able to PL all their alts though, force players to actually play the game, normally, PLing in these ridiculous ways should have been cracked down on from the start, it makes the game shit for new players when they enter a zone and a bard is kiting around all the mobs.

@@rdizzy1 I disagree completely. Also, it's not ksing if you tag it first.... That's kind of the whole point. Also, the bard issue is easily fixed and should have been a long time ago. Private servers do it pretty well. Pretty sure Daybreak can figure it out.

@@BrianRevas It is still ksing if you have been camping the camp the entire time, killing the surrounding mobs and PHs, then someone comes in an tags a named before you, no different than ksing.

This won't do anything to prevent KSing, in fact, it will make it much easier to kill steal from someone's camp. Instead of needing to bring a full group in to outDPS a group's camp, all you need is to send one guy in to tag their mob and pull it. The only negative thing that this encounter locking ruleset prevents is training.

It's almost always like that, a tiny minority of ppl making silly complaints constantly and loudly. I think they should just not play on that tlp, and I bet the population will be the same as any other tlp

This is a great idea, if it's done the same way as EQ2 it will be amazing, it will just be a lot of work. Lot's of people really want the random triple loot of Mischief back, but it ain't coming back anytime soon nor should it, people had a taste of killing easy mobs for tons of loot to sell and they loved it, now the traditional experience isn't good enough for them.

Just Imagine that the "club" you get when you first start in Glooming deep can be upgraded into your epic as you get stuff done.. That could be a great and worthwhile reward.

It reminds me of WoW and greyed out mobs, if they're trying to kill power levelers with encounter locks I wonder if there's a better way to just nerf the mobs if they are hit by AE Stuns or somehow lock it to whoever has first threat on more than 5 mobs or something. Anything hit by an AE Stun from a character xx levels higher gets an experience penalty or something. I like your idea of releasing all the expansions based on level they could experiment with adjusting stats on gear to make that relevant so if they released PoP, Gates, LDON, I think the big reason that would just force a lot of people to the latest expansion is the stats on gear. They could do flat bonuses like buff PoP gear by 10% or something so all the high end gear in each of those expansions is similar.

All I want is to be able to make a pickzone specific to groups, even if it has a one day cooldown or something.. seems the easiest way to cut down on the Krono bros/permacamps

While I totally agree that classic is WAY too small for a TLP (1-2 zones to get from 45-50) I would hate having Kunark open at launch. Going from 50-60 takes as long as 1-50 almost so it would really feel like a slog to get to max level. Especially if you're playing with a static group

FV is by a huge margin the most populated live server. Mischief seemed like a huge hit. So of course we'll never see another random loot / free trade TLP server again.

I agree with alot of what you said. Keep in mind that with how the expansions are released it will take 7 YEARS on this server to reach current content. I think everyone knows this server will die out way before then. And your right by saying Day Break has lost connection with the players. The old MOTTO "The customer is always right" has no meaning in that company at all. I honestly feel that if they would listen and act on what players are asking for, not only would players get excited but it would also bring back hundreds of accounts. My pick would be.... Boxing 3 accounts per computer, period, no more. This would keep the boxers happy while leaving enough room in a group for either players or mercs. Bonus loot like Mischif. The data shows how popular this is and how players praise this feature. Free Trade. It is this feature which made Frionia such a popular server. Multipul expansions released at the same time. 7 years of this kind of ruleset wont work. Population would crash once the next TLP opens.

The Sad news about Daybreak has lost Connection of players can be felt since 2015 when the Company was Rebranded and even SOE has issues in 2014.

I just want a TLP that has Kunark unlocked at launch and just give us 14 weeks instead of 8 and 6 or whatever it is. Although, I would love a much slower release cadence than measuring in weeks. I'd love a year of launch plus Kunark, then release each 6 months after. Can't do everything as it was in that amount of time and really enjoy it. Also, could really double up on some of them too.

I would go more radical: Defiant Gear and Mercenaries available at launch during Classic. We could then level in the classic Planes until Kunark arrives. Spell and melee skills auto advance each level. This server should be about fun. I will still try this server but not that excited over the ruleset.

I don't understand all the hate, I mean I see the edge case examples ppl give but the vast majority of problems is either that mages and necros just come in and out dps ppl and theres nothing you can do about it. How many ppl really use oog pulls, and how common will griefing be? I can't see it being more common that KSing, since that occurs every hour of every day in every zone. Idk I just don't get the hate

While I am not flipping out about FTE like it seems like most people are, I am kind of disappointed by the ruleset. I think it is still to early to know how FTE will work exactly. I am certainly skeptical but, it could be ok or even good if they address every possible exploit? But that aside, the server is just kind of meh. I was hoping for something creative, different and exciting. It is unfortunate that Vaniki flopped so bad. I thought it was interesting and different and put a twist on things. After playing a number of TLPs I am much more interested in a somehow different/creative take on a ruleset. Not an adjustment to experience rates/drop rates/ etc etc etc. That really doesn't change the game in a meaningful way. Vaniki did that.

Here is a conspiracy theory for you. They probably aren't too upset with all the hate this is getting. Their consolation prize is more people staying on yelinak, mischief,mangler etc. They would LOVE to have more tlp players explore later content.

It's not a conspiracy theory. It's objectively obvious and a good business decision. Why would they release Mischief 2.0 when they know it would only cannibalize population from other servers, crush Mischief 1.0s population right when it's getting into better expansions and make them very little extra money for their efforts. On the other hand, FTE potentially brings back people that hate training and powerlevelers and doesn't necessarily reduce the populations of existing servers by much at all. I do think it will take a lot of yelinak's population but I think any new TLP would do that regardless of ruleset, I could be wrong there though.

TLPs are seasonal, and that's it. I don't know why DB keeps trying to make servers that are supposed to last until the end. People do not want this, and never will. There's a reason why 1 server and 1 server alone have stood the test of time, it's the only server to ever need two identical servers, and that was Mischief. Why, you may ask? Because the ruleset was amazing, and there are so many ideas that they could take from the forums that would be freaking awesome. Some of the cool ones I saw were private instance dungeons, scalable raid instances so you can do like 10 men, attunable loot, random mob instead of random loot, and server opening with Kunark. I mean there were so many sweet ideas, and they used absolutely none of them.

Sure easy fix take out krono and make it harder for farmers to make bulk money exchange. at least make them have multiple toons hording gold to sell to avoid the tracking mechanic. Some of the player base is just as angry about zerg farmers and power levers dominating dungrons on multiple pics and camps. Free trade is a great idea just tone down how much loot drops.

That works in games where mobs are super easy to kill solo like WoW classic, but in EQ, where a random blue can mop the floor with you, not so much. Hardcore is a solo mode, and EQ is at it's core not a solo game. Yes some people solo, but most group or box.

I'm guessing you were maybe 5 or 6, at most, when EQ launched in 1999...am I warm? 10 or 12? With that playful tid bit out of the way...When EQ launched all the way through GoD at least (That's when I took my first several year long break) how the stats actually work and what they influenced was a mystery. Sure, many players looking to scratch the Min/Max itch tried to test, test...and test, to make an educated guess and a few were right on some, and most were reading WAY too much into the effects of certain stats. That's a long time to keep the player base in the dark, why? EQ wasn't built to be some min/max speed run kind of MMO. A MMO like that didn't exist before. They created it as a virtual world to "get lost in with a sense of wonder"...yes, yes, yes...I know it's not like that nowadays, but it's mostly "not like that" NOT because the game has changed all that much...the PLAYERS changed. It seems to me that the old players, from the beginning, hated what the game turned into about around SoD...but the players that have only known the mercs and box centered habits of the player base are now seeing possible changes they don't like...much like how us "old folks" felt many years ago. So I got my popcorn ready;> It's fun to see it happen to someone else for a change. :-) LOL Yeah, I still play. I keep to myself and just solo to let the memories come back to me of the old days before I take my Geritol and blood pressure meds, go to bed, then get up 2-3 more times to urinate. BTW...get off my lawn!

i'm glag this encounter locking is coming out. it will be a healthier game where these krono farmers won't make a ton of bank . and the lower level players can just play the game as they also paid for it. boo hoo to the farmers. get over it. locking has been around in many games it helps. while agree though more new fun things should be getting added in to attract players back. they could also help by doubling the spawn rate of low area's . , i agree with release kurnark same time . one more thing having 2 types of tlp servers release together would be wise. one with the locking encounters and all those bonuses per expansions. and the other more classic with less bonuses and no locking encounters, but better exp gain or loot or random loot ect.

Jenn Chan Head of Studio for everquest does not take player advice and is a very bad for eq and the encounter lock is realy not about stoping mob stealing its about stopping pl'ers and thats what eq has always done every nerf to swarming / head shot / aoe stuns has been to stop people from pl'ing toons

Powerlvling and twinking is what made the game fun personally in my opinion. Was awesome to have 100hp items on a lvl 1 toon hehe

Time for a whole new Everquest. Not eq2, not eq Next, not WoW, but an original game rebirth with all the same designs, larger maps and characters and of course new races and new classes. No more boxing, its just too powerful for a single player to rip through content, then add insult to injury put up the high level items that only the rich can get and sell for millions of plat and screw those that cant get up the levels a decent rate. What I'd love to see is a GM vs the players year long war.

Bring back boats. The early years were fun for exploring, because you couldn't just fast travel around with pedestals and stuff. It made teleportation spells valuable too.

@@KILRtv I enjoyed the boats as well but they need to be integrated into the lore of the EQ. Monsters, Raiders, Pirates, Dragons, EQ Gods rising up to attack the ships, you lose exp, but gain a nice item sent to you after dying and ported to a hospital. Anything should happen. And you get a nice item and a story to talk about, just like the zombie infection event from WOW. Anything goes.

I quit TLPs and EQ last year. It’s nice to have ended that journey. TLPs can be fun for awhile but ultimately they all implode and while things seem normal it’s all a massive scheme for 1.Darkpaw to harvest your wallet, and 2. True EQ no life’s to harvest the rest. There really is no community bc it’s all of bunch of cliques that are scheming behind the scenes. Just do yourself a favor. Take just like 27 days or however long it is to break an addiction and go outside, write a book, try another game, or even just sale your boxing PC’s and go on a vacation.

I would love for Darkpaw to stop focusing on fixing their problems they created with Kronos and move forward with content development. Systems do not make a game, please create fun content.

I would 100% come back to EQ if they released a server with the ruleset you just suggested. Kunark off the hop, 2box rule (@ luclin imo), unlock content based on level rather then each expansion... Best idea's I've heard to date. We need to get Darkpaw eyes on this video!
