Yeah just make EverQuest what it used to be, adventuring, killing mobs, and the quests of your CHOOSING, was the best way to play, shot even camping an area and just tunnel mobs to your location was fun and honestly quite relaxing and gave you a chance to communicate with everyone during downtime was also quite fun, shame to see they are getting away from that

The only reason mob grind was made so much more tedious is the devs want to force people to do the Progression system, AKA "play our way, on rails" or get to grind even more. To do that they made the XP required per level MUCH higher in ToV+ expansions and then put big chunks of XP on the achievements for the progression system of each of the level-up expansions (CoV did not have big amounts of XP like ToV did, they never took away any mob XP, in fact ToV mob XP per kill is higher than TBL's even if it feels a lot less because you need vastly more per level. Mob XP was basically made a much smaller impact upon levelling and for AP they could reduce the XP required per level to pre ToV+ new XP paradigm levels more in line i.e. with the prior expansions increases and the amount those ToV+ progression achievements give or they could have a "Legacy Character" type boost for AP once your main is at max level, increased for each AP you have at max level after. Or they can remove the one-time ever limitation to the Achivement XP & make it an allowed once per persona deal. Or they could say screw you guys you can just grind all your other personas the hard way.

I personally would love the experience back to the mobs. Definitely miss getting a group, holding a camp, and it being reasonable enough experience to feel like you've accomplished something per hour or so. But, if they want to stick with the quest experience route, maybe not so much the huge chunks of experience for achievements but decent bits for more repeatable quests. I personally was a huge fan of "the farm" in secrets of faydwer where the mob kill experience wasn't terrible and you got decent little chunks for the repeatable quests for the mobs in that camp. Just add more decent repeatable quests for more camps. Or maybe even an endless tiered kill achievement for decent chunks of experience every 25, 50, or 100 kills tied to any and every mob that yields a bonus 10% per 50, or some ratio like that, I think that would be great.

I can’t think of a single repeatable question 111+ that gives more than .1-5 exp besides overseer. Lol

I get what you’re saying but it’s kind of funny to think that back in the day we’d complain that quests gave no exp and we had to grind. Now it’s the other way around 😂. Seems like the best solution would be to allow both. Thanks for the video!

For sure. Bringing back mob xp would be fantastic imo. I think this is especially true for people that box many characters. No way i would want to do quest on 6 guys all over again just to get a different class on that toon leveled up.

We agree 100% Hammackj. Every time this is brought up in the forums, or on EQ reddit, or under EQ videos, there are a group of EQ extremists that jump into action and shout down the idea. My belief is that forcing progression causes many to quit when they hit the wall at 110. Or they buy krono to give to progression sellers who box automated parties and are masters at /taskadding. Or they search out a guild and work hard to understand all the steps in the progression and continually ask for help completing each step. Some do not want to be forced to find a proper party with a CC, a tank, a healer, and some dps to go try to complete the harder steps in the complicated progression of each expansion. They just want to log in, find a camp, and grind for a while. We have our fingers crossed the new expansion will return to giving decent xp per kill as EQ did in its long distant glorious past. Thanks for covering this Hammackj. Keep up the great work.
@hammackj11 ай бұрын
Yeah the extremists players don't like me =) I am all for making the game more accessible and getting new players into the game. I'd love to get reasonable exp by killing proper mobs vs trying to do merc/part quests in every zone. They go so fast you cant even complete the hunter ach before you are done. Plus once you hit cap you then just grind AA might as well just let us grind from level 1.
@chanelMacTruck11 ай бұрын
I feel like they did that for the earlier levels over the years, but the experience going back to the mobs sounds like it was taken away from the mobs, and I’m not sure I agree that’s what has happened? If I’m wrong, sure, but now, you’re saying instead of the quests people will just grind mobs at a better rate as someone who’s geared will run trains of mobs to increase exp gains. I feel if they took it away, it may have been because of this purpose alone. The quests aren’t too difficult, and I thought in the FAQ they spoke about personas needing to do some kind of pre-thing to get the exp from these quests? Love your videos, and I definitely understand not wanting to do the grind too. I would like if they dogeared the part where you did those quests for exp boosts making it easier to get to 125 a second time. I’d love it! We shall see…😊

I've never had a character over 70 (yet, getting close), so I can't say I know how the endgame is, but I think the best way would be to leave some xp on the quests, and put xp back on the mobs. If you do a mission that gives you 100% of level 107->108, then maybe cut that to 25% and split the other 75% over the mobs in that level range, so once someone has completed the mission, they still get the big pop, but they also have the chance to gain alternate persona xp on the mobs themselves.
@hammackj11 ай бұрын
Yeah both is the best option but I was thinking either or type situation. Ideally I just want normal exp back on mobs.

I prefer grinding. Doing quests is not bad, but I prefer grinding. I think both should provide reasonable xp instead of forcing players into one path. EQ has become steadily less fun in recent years, consequent how much I spend on the game has reduced significantly. I'm not going to pay for a game that isn't fun. Instead, I will play a different game that is fun. EQ needs to bring back the fun.

I am going to make a separate video about it, but they need to do a ton of work to fix the problems in EQ. I am on BB also and people get incredibly mad when I make simple statements in general chat that they just can't understand. Like when you tell people there is no economy in EQ. The game has gone from spells costing 30pp supported by diamond farming, to 5300pp spells... supported by diamond farming where diamonds have a lower drop rate.

I would say with 150p per kill money is fairly easy to get at 125. Since you get a variable amount of plat for each kill plus tradeskill items which seem to sell well. Granted it’s 2milish plat for all spells 1-125 per persona but the plat issue isn’t a big deal. On FV I have items sell very well. On Drinal where I play now it’s harder to find items / sell them. Not sure if it’s a free trade + player issue but def noticeable. Spells are over priced for sure now but on my 6 characters just grinding for AA and leveling up they made a few 100k, but I did have to sell 3 KR to accelerate my start in drinal. I feel like all the servers should be merged with a larger player cap to help the eco.

Why not forget the exp and approach it a different way. If you have a 120 character then you have a 120 persona, but skills are at lvl 1 so you have to train those skills and gear up. By that time you will know how to play your new persona. Let’s be honest we’ve all had the level grind more times than we’d like to admit and it will take time to skill up and gear up. Just a thought.

On TLP it’s longer for sure. Not as slow as classic. A lot of the slower level in the day was tied to the lack of shit to kill. I leveled my cleric pretty fast in OG kunark. No point jacking around at 50 on live not even halfway though leveling current levels a few slow like old school.
