I like SSF EQ P99 videos, and I'd like to learn the mage. I'm with you for as long as you go with this character.

I'd go earth pet all the way, give it a 2hd weapon *8 or 9dmg and it will shred. Make sure you get a high level pet (consider it, should be yellow to you at lvl 4). You can camp outside entrance to blackburrow at lvl 4 on (get gnoll teeth). Pet can handle a white or yellow con if you nuke a bit (get the burn spell). You can CC the pet if you get multiples, send in, wait till cast root and /pet back off, that's why it's the best imho. Just went thru that a couple days ago on green ... may even have seen your corpse once or twice ^^. Don't worry about outdamaging your pet, it will mostly win the dps race, just keep letting it work and save your mana for a bad situation or a yellow/white con. The most xp comes from the quest. Evocation probably, you could argue conjuration ... but really ... evocation^^

I will certainly give the earth peta try. Probably my next set of spells pick him up and test him out. Also thanks for the advice its much appreciated!

Early game was fun because it felt like a game. Late game felt like a job. That’s why I never really got super far back in the day.

Also, an idea for this run, try to travel to the Faydark area to continue your leveling just to make things spicier?

Great video as always :) and on the pet I used water for the most part unless the mobs ran off a lot then I would swap out for the earth pet, and he roots pretty often. On the spells I always used the fire line the sword line just gets resisted way too much. there are some decent low-level robes, there is on in the bottom of befallen that you can get fairly early. Also, don't forget to buy the weapon line of spells, the daggers have faster rate than the pets unarmed and can make a difference. Also, don't forget to get a fire beetle eye as a light source until you can summon your own wisp :)

I played a Magician up to the low 50s around the time PoP came out and it was a blast. Earth pet is probably safest for soloing since, if I'm remembering correctly, Mages don't get a root of their own. Just started playing a bard on green as well - if you see Tanuviel Farstrider, give him a wave! Oh, and Evocation is probably better overall.

Yea I dont believe they get root either so your right the earth my be safer. Oh and heck yea if I see your bard I will certainly give him a wave :)

As an mage I mostly use the water pet but it's an good idea to buy your earth pet as well too because of the root. Especially in your area for gnolls or mobs that like to run. So for saving plate just buy them for now but when it comes to pets it's how you play too. You may find they way you play an fire pet fits your play style.
