Curscale armor quest .... you can sometimes buy Curscale hides off the outside vendors. Well at the end there you had the platinum mine but destroyed all the plat !!!! 😲

Also Barthorn the SSF warrior and cleric you mentioned we have a dedicated group that play group self found on blue every wednesday. mage, cleric, pally, shaman, enchanter, druid. we are at lvl 20 roughly now after 4 sessions. Totally different play on the game and enjoyable.

@@resort.janitor We all group together as a guild and help each other out with no outside interference or trading. So only in guild and no twinking.

Hey Bob, I have kinda started a solo self found myself with a mage. I got 3 videos up on it already if you wanted to check them out. As far as rules I have set for myself is that I can only loot items or buy from vendors for upgrades/craft for myself. BUT I can allow myself to sell items to other players instead of vendoring them so i get more money to afford the vendor price hikes. As far as buffs are concerned I allow them on myself except for "game breaking" ones like PoTG for instance. I feel thats a bit to OP. Im glad your having fun and looking forward to more videos! Also that rare spider in the spider caves can drop that procing weapon you should for sure try to get one of them. Cheers bud

My self found character is Hauns the ranger. He can't be rebound, he runs everywhere, He makes or loots his equipment. last I played him he was level 9 or 12.

great start for new series ! happy went iskar to explore different lands . i like the idea of remaining open to the specifics of the stipulation , adjust as you feel needed , travel for example seems fine to expediate . and overall can decide the underlying spirit of SoloSelfFound , and interepret thru roleplay , for example perhaps this iskar is just very untrusting of others and their items , culturally accepting gifts could be seen as a responsibility that they dont want to be indebted to , under this premise it still allows them to potentially group under difficult situations or with people they trust , while generally being on their own .

Ahhh! I have a Kunark only self-found Iksar Warrior too, level 45! Hardcore with 0 deaths. So awesome to see this. For our group, we definitely allow buying items that are in a vendors *natural* stock. We allow buffs that are in in our level range, and I've allowed myself to trade for the imbued amber because there is literally no way to get it otherwise. You'll definitely want to get into Cabilis Scale Mail asap!

Best of luck with this Bob, good to see an EQ videa again. If I play EQ these days I play self-found (not solo though, so I do accept buffs :) ). Btw there's a newbie armour quest in Cabilis you may want to get your warrior to check out - Curscale Armour.

You might have figured this out already, but the "Cabilis Forge" is for iksar cultural smithing only. The one for normal smithing is just called "Forge"

On this side of the pond we call it Ironman when you make and find everything on your own. I did New World when I started it as an Ironman but hit the scaling problem you mentioned at about 125 crafting or so. I was out leveling what my crafting could keep up with. On a completely separate thing Embers Adrift has a free weekend this June 2,3,4. I noticed that your past vids made it sound like you have become disenchanted with it but maybe you didn’t know and wanted to piss around for a day and see if anything got better. I’ve never played it but was thinking about trying it. Take care, different shades of Ironman can be fun.

legacy of ik and hotz zoo are both guilds doing guild self found, lots of fun and still get a chance to duo/trio to break the monotony

Rogue would be by far the hardest solo self found. And I think warrior is 2ns after that. Every other class has at least some mechanic they can use to make life easier on themselves. For example paladins and clerics could fight mostly undead on their journey. Rangers while costly can arrow kite.

Rangers also get some good tools like snare or harmony, even SOW

I'm impressed you would attempt an iksar, amazing race for warrior in the high end but getting there would be rough. No plate options for a long long time as a non twink but might be a fun experiment. Troll would be my choice but thats just me.

Honestly , your playing an mmo so I say if you get buffs you get buffs. You make 100plat you have 100plat to buy items with. Anyway really look forward to this brother. Keep it comin

Should do this on red :) Met some self found gents, they dont buy gear from players. Thats it, camp ur gear buy whatever else u need. Bags, potions, buffs, ports, all fine as long as u buy and dont accept free stuff. Was their version. Hope this helps! Also could ramp up the difficulty at 20 like some do.

I think the farther you go back in time with MMOs (and certainly in the case of Everquest), they were kind of designed with teamwork and trade in mind. As MMOs got very popular, they thought more about how a solo character could progress. Not saying you can't do it or won't have fun, but the progress will be even more glacial than usual. I actually just subscribed for WoW Classic for a month to see how I like it... but there's no way I'm doing the hardcore mode or whatever. 😂

my argument for my toons is i make them find their own way, no twink, no money, no nothing.. if they want it they have to buy it or kill it.. so each one is treated like i have no others. I think the barman in the middle of the zone has some armor quests its not much better than cloth but its xp and something.. everything in smithing needs a flask of water.. crap ton of water

well if you truly do SSF then you can't get ANYTHING from other players, but vendors are fair game (not the playermade bazaar ones) which you don't have anyways on p99 if I remember right... and you can do jboots solo, just ain't super easy

I think you're over-thinking it. Just solo as a warrior. It's plenty challenging. Get buffs. Buy stuff. Just don't group.
