I rarely comment on videos but here I am:You described the game in a very objective and mature way, trying to cover both important factors and small details and giving enough information for any type of player to decide whether or not the game suits them. Even the way you described things made the review feel really premium and well thought out ( the calm tone of the voice, the clean and on point manner of speaking and so on ). The whole time it really felt like I was watching a seasoned professional, which I didn't initially expect when I saw your low subscribers number.There are more good things I could point out but I'll stop at saying that you truly did a good job. I've seen many other reviews for this game before coming across yours and my opinion is that none of them was made better. Keep it up man!

Well i guess ill be the only one who thought it was actually a kinda bad review. I actually thought this "review" was a paid advert for the game the guy was gushing over it every second. Of the 11 minute review we have to wait until 8:17 minutes in to hear one bad thing about the game (damage model). He says nothing about the details of how things work in the game...he says nothing about any bugs (i guess none then?) how is the UI? how is the fps? graphics and game options? its a space flight game ? oh can you use a hotas? what about the sound? music? nope nothing on any of that. He spends too much time *liking* the game without introducing the game to people who have not played it and explaining how things work. So in that respect it was one of the most subjective and less detailed reviews i've seen in a while.
@SteamvilleQuintet6 жыл бұрын
Thanx SirDutchie for a most enjoyable and non gutter language showing of what looks like a really fun game. I'm tired of hearing millennial "pseudo techies" slamming game developers harder than Gordon Ramsey bangs on restaurants. And I think you explained and showed quite well how things work. I didn't think it was a "paid advert" even for a second. The graphics look fine to me as they are, but I do not run my contrast and brightness up to max anyway, don't see why some do, and if I did that on every game I would just use the settings on my screens anyway. Who cares what the frames per second is! I have filmed games, even old games with the fps jumping all over, and my gear is nice enough to smooth them right out. Is it a space flight game - duh. Music is in the ear of the listener Zerinth, do you really need someone to tell you what you like? With the copyright strikes going round these days, KZbinrs are crazy to play the music, go listen to it on the game's website and judge for yourself do you like it. Bugs - depends on your machine, again check the forum of the game's website, where the developers can read and maybe fix things, that's why they have forums. And when you type "Well i guess ill be the only one" try losing the text message speak and hit the caps button twice. Have a nice day.

@@CerealKiller well, Dark Souls is kinda like a rogue like game, but i don't think the reference was made about this, but the difficulty of the game... I have played Everspace for a long time, and in the later stages the game becomes incredible dificult. Take that in mind that reach the last stage is time consuming, and if you die, you have to start all over again, not in the last bonfire that you interact. I also preffer play the game in first-person so, it makes even more dificult to play. Everspace is a game that your skill count more than the ship you are using...
@efxnews47763 жыл бұрын
@Major Gear yeah, the only thing is that the money you make stays with you, but you should spend it all in the hangar buying upgrades (wich are permanent) because if you don't and try to save for your next run, you will lose the money. The levels are randon so each run is different, you won't be seeing the same levels over and over. Also theres encounters and bits of the story that you will find here and there on each run. In the beggning of the game you will die a lot, but as you progress you would see that you not only will become more powerful, but also will have learn quite some few tatics to deal with all kinds of enemys. If i'm not mistaken there 7 stages divide in 2 paths and more or less 4 or 5 levels in each. You can, if you want just keep jumping the entire sector, but at some point you will run out of fuel and will need to scavage or find a trade station to refuel your ship, but at the end of each sector theres at least one trade ship/station so you can go foward and just ocasionaly stop, keep in mind, that if you try this tatic at the beggining of the game you wouldn't go to far, the enemys are way more powerful in the mid sectors than they are in the beggning and you will may not be capable of avoiding them all.

I just bought it on PS4 a few days ago and I'm enjoying it. The first two days I didn't really understand it very well, but the more I got into it and understood how it is played (perks, money, upgrades, missions, story, etc), the game opened up and got much bigger and much better than it appeared on first look. Fly-controls and combat are excellent. $7.99 for the Stellar Edition was certainly well-spent. I see that Everspace 2 is coming out. That will be a full-price purchase.

I highly recommend the game if you’re looking to have fun with a ship In space. Space games are not that frequent these days, i own elite dangerous but it’s sometimes too boring, for being really role playing, besides there’s not much happening most of the time. The addiction behind this game, as an arcade it’s the way you improve your ship and feel stronger, they should add more weapons or unexpected events. What’s good about this game, it’s scifi design, i know could be better, but just feels great like when you change your main ship and boom you are able to fly faster and evade shots.

(for the FTL players out there, the space spiders... all those damn space spiders)

The glitches get pretty bad sometimes. I've seen outlaw drone carriers launch themselves across the map upon destruction. Same thing happens with Okkar corvettes. I've seen enemies warp into asteroids and get stuck, and I've even been launched into an asteroid from a jump and taken damage. Edit: and there was one time when I got locked out of a G&B service station because an outlaw drone was lodged in an asteroid nearby.

On a completely different side note, I'd like to point out the ridiculous and continuing notion that asteroid and ice belts are so dense with rocks and ice that you have to dodge them. That close together they either form a planetoid or get smashed to dust in a short period of time. Our solar system is believed to have a billion asteroids bigger than a football field, meaning about one asteroid per 33 quadrillion cubic miles. You would have to be pretty unlucky to hit one.

Looks interesting, but what is this 'rogue-like' term I keep hearing in other reviews of this game?
@SirDutchie7 жыл бұрын
Basically each time you start a new game the experience is rather fresh with randomized challenges and enemy types. Each time you die you start all over basically losing the progress you've previously made. Some games, like Everspace, allow some degree of saved progress by way of dollars earned throughout each run that you can use to spend on your ship's abilities to improve future runs. The goal is always to finish the game in one good run, rather than rely on savegames and checkpoints :)
@Orozco_PNW7 жыл бұрын
Perfect, thanks!
@xenazon97317 жыл бұрын
+SirDutchie - That's a HUGE deterrent for me. Lack of save points was one of the MOST annoying things about earlier games. (Along with the pixelated graphics). At first, "rogue-like" may have been an interesting concept with Dark Souls, but it got old REALLY fast. After a while, Dark Souls got placed on a shelf as a game I might go back to ONE DAY. These days, devs are bringing back some of the most annoying drawbacks of older games and using them as a selling point. It's like offering frozen dinners with LESS FOOD, yet charging significantly more for them by calling them "reduced calorie". As consumers, I think we're walking around with the term SUCKER stamped on our foreheads!
@fitzdraco7 жыл бұрын
The original roguelkes were old 80s ascii graphic dungeon crawl rpgs. The first one was called Rogue, hence the name. The most famous was called Nethack, followed closely by Angband. They had a few things in common. The dungeon was generated by RNG, meaning each time you played it was different. Also the items you found were randomized. So there was always going to be a potion of healing, but sometimes it would be a pink potion and other times it would be yellow. They tended to be brutally difficult where random death was just a fact of life. They also included the feature that if you died, that character was done. With few exceptions. They are also free. That's right, present tense. The games have been in development for 30 years now, with a philosophy of simple graphics but extremely deep game play. One of the main features of the games were they were open source, so anybody could write a mod or alter them. Occasionally these mods were rolled into the primary game(common in Nethack) and often they were as popular as the original game (Angband variants are legendary). The primary draw of a roguelike is you get a new game each time you play. Civilization random maps draw a lot on this. Diablo's point and click dungeon crawl style functions a lot like a rogue like. In hard core it's like a high graphic low complexity rogue like. One of the selling points of old roguelikes that doesn't come through is the detail. In nethack you can turn into a rust monster which lets you eat metal items. You can then eat a trident. This has a chance of boosting your wisdom "Pure chewing satisfaction" because of reference to an old gum commercial. It's the kind of thing you get from thirty years of development.

I’m playing this on Xbox one and the controls are horrible. I toned sensitivity to 0 and still it’s nuts pilot it when dog fighting. This thing moves too fast for me to get lock on the enemy. But once I bought the big ship it’s became much much better to maneuver.

Well, looks like they "copied" or borrow idea from City Interactive's "Starmageddon 2". By how jet is moving and controlled it just looks like it's Starmaggedon... well, 3 with fresh engine. Good idea, loved Starmageddon 2. Will try Everspace too

I've never seen almost every comment give the same compliment. Pretty odd

Also odd that every comment gives the reviewer compliments Haven't seen anyone give their own thoughts on the game or any discussions, they're all just compliments

Are you still playing it? Btw I really enjoyed your review :)
@SirDutchie7 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Currently not playing it very often anymore but that was once I got most out of the game. Currently unlocked all ships and most upgrades so not very much left to achieve. I managed to get to the final boss but died in the last wave though :(

I like the game, but the grind feels... Unworthy. Warp into the second sector map and everything gets 50% deadlier (and things are harsh enough in the first sector map). The upgrades are just meager breadcrumbs (+2.5% credits, woo! Or how about +5% shields?) that scream "DIE, UPGRADE, DIE TO UPGRADE TO DIE AND UPGRADE". Meanwhile the game doesn't throw enough interesting in-game elements (new weapons, events, etc) to keep it interesting. The worst part, however, is that the combat and the controls lie to you. If you think this is like Ace Combat, where you engage in epic dogfights avoiding your enemy's fire while shooting at them (or at least recharging shields), you're in for a bad time. Enemies are way too agile, have too much weapon angle and are too precise. At first you may think it's just you not being accostumed to the controls, but then you engage an elite with his buddy peashooter and you realize that, no matter what you try, the elite will still manage to shoot at you, dealing more damage than you can even hope to return. Overall: Fun game, but the combat is wonky and the roguelike part feels shallow. If you don't mind grinding mindlessly in a "Die to upgrade to get further to die to upgrade to get further" sense, go ahead. If you value your time, however, go play something else.
