There was nothing "mind-baffling" about the lack of a Holmes-Norton rematch. It was extinguished by Shavers' first-round destruction of Norton nine months later.

The judges did Ali no favors by handing him gift decisions over Young and Norton, encouraging him to stay in the game until his injuries became permanent.

Technically Ken Norton Vs Jimmy Young could be a vacant WBC contest since the winner of that fight (Norton) got awarded the title

It wasn't. Norton was just awarded the title without winning the championship fight. Matter of fact, Norton remains the only heavyweight champion without winning any championship fights.

nothing beats out his Tyson bias, and his infatuation with belts over actual championships. He continues to call Tyson the youngest heavyweight champion in the world when in fact he was just the youngest belt holder; Tyson did not become the true champion till he beat Spinks, at which point he was older than Patterson was when he won the title.
