Hey Joel, your channel really has been a grace from God for me this last year. I love your humble and yet confidence approach to many different topics. Many of the same books you listed in this video and in previous videos have been transformative for me. Keep up the great work And merry Christmas.

Lamb of the Free and Paul and the Resurrection of Israel both blew my mind. They were, for me, very hard to read as they were way over my head from a scholarly perspective. I still don't really understand them but just grasping the basics of these two books is more than my pea brain could handle.

New to your channel. I like that you did an honourable mention and recognised a book that just kept coming back to you. Those can be the best.

I really appreciate you doing this. I myself have been on similar journey as yourself, grew up in a (generally) conservative evangelical environment. Growing up, I was only exposed (for the most part) of one way of looking at things. Most of what I've read this year involves issues surrounding violence and politics. The books I've read this year: The End of the World as You Know It - Matthew Halstead The Myth of a Christian Nation - Greg Boyd Jesus and the Powers - NT Wright and Michael Bird Nonviolence: The Revolutionary Way of Jesus - Preston Sprinkle Disarming Leviathan - Caleb Campbell Paul: A Biography - NT Wright The Crucifixion of the Warrior God - Greg Boyd (I will read Cross Vision after reading some of the other books surrounding OT violence below to see different perspectives) The Myth of a Christian Religion - Greg Boyd Strange Religion - Nijay K. Gupta Currently Reading: The Fire That Consumes - Edward William Fudge God Is a Man of War - Stephen De Young Books On the Way: Exiles - Preston Sprinkle Is God a Moral Monster? - Paul Copan Flood and Fury - Matthew Lynch Shoutout to all the books by Michael Heiser for getting me to examine my filters! His books started it all for me.

Curious where you stand with Old Testament violence now? I've read Cross Vision, Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God, and I have several on the way regarding violence in the scriptures.. God bless !
