Freddys revenge is my favourite also,it was the first one I saw when I was about 6.it gets a lot of hate from other KZbinrs so it’s refreshing to see it at number 1,I thought it was just me who thought it was the scariest.My 2nd favourite is number 1 then dream master.Dream warriors was ok but I lose interest when it gets to the therapy dreams.Great video 👍

Thank you! Part two is the best. The scene where Freddy possesses and then cuts himself out of Jesse, stares at Grady, slowly puts his hat on, then stalks and kills Grady without saying a word can NOT be topped. Then Jesse is back and Freddy is in the mirror evilly laughing waving his knife finger and shaking his head as if to say “shame shame.”

@@gusthechicken4747 never really liked it as much as everyone does. Basically I felt the story was not as engaging and only every got good with the practical effects sequences. to me like the script is a quilt of different films squished together and it just never jelled as well as all the other films did. Probably why 4 is so high for me as I never felt the cast of 3’s deaths as heavy as everyone else. Still a good film with a both of great moments but lacks a lot of visual style all the others have more of.

One of my favorite movie theater memories in 1988 a few days before the release of the dream master the best theater in NYC the Loewes Astor Plaza was having a marathon of nightmare 1-4 . OMG what an amazing time before part 4 started Robert Englund made an appearance. He said a few words and gave a major spoiler shouting out watch as I kill the survivors of Elm street . Right before the lights dimmed he screamed out you are all my children. Thanks Christian for another amazing video.

Best to worst: 1 A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (BEST acting performances, BEST cinematography, BEST dialogue, BEST score and BEST opening. Darkest movie, BEST looking Freddy and scariest Freddy. 2. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Classic. BEST directing and my personal favorite Freddy dream sequences and Freddy all red sleeved sweater. John Saxon is a badass. 3. The Dream Master: LOVE this. It knows what it is and it embraces itself and its comedic elements. It's possibly the best dream sequences and special effects, not my personal fav dream sequences but I do recognise it is the best. I love the soundtrack. Part 4 is the MTV 80s Nightmare on Elm Street. 4. New Nightmare - I've grown to appreciate this a whole lot more than I did. This has Wes Craven all over it and pre-Scream vibe and I love Craven. 5. Dream Warriors - This only gets ranked so high for the first half of the movie which is classic. The second half is terrible X-Men superhero bullshit and the introduction to comedy Freddy feels out of place. They're trying to be dark and scary while being funny and it doesn't work. Part 4 knows what it is more than this movie does and the cheap use of John Saxon as a drunk security guard who is unlikeable and opposite to part 1 was disgraceful and how they cheaply killed him. Lame. The praise this overrated movie gets along with its insufferable, annoying fanbase sometimes makes me want to rank it lower but I cannot say it is a bad movie. The first have is excellent and would have been the best if they'd kept the dark tone of parts 1 & 2 and the first half of movie didn't turn into X-Men on crack. 6. Freddy vs Jason - Fun for what it was, and entertaining. 7. Dream Child - Yes, this is a terrible movie but just slightly better than Freddy's Dead for the performances of the new gang. Except Mark. That dude sucked and could not act and they were all misfitted together. No way a nerd hung out with a beauty queen and jock and swimming team leader. 8. Freddy's Dead - This is cheesy as in bad cheesy and an insult to everything horror not just everything Freddy. The Wizard of Oz, Tom f***in Arnold, the looney tunes bit and computer game scenes are all unforgivable. 9. Nightmare on Elm Street Remake (2010) - As unforgivable as Freddy's Dead was, it still wasn't a carbon copy cash in for money that is empty, talentless and a lazy CGI mess. This is a fart from Michael Bay IN YOUR FACE! Earl-Hayley's Freddy talked way too much and said too many puns to have a proper introduction to a new Freddy, which SHOULD have been dark and mysterious. This was a dull, lifeless and mundane modern take with vacant and 2 dimensional characters played by boring and lousy actors. The script was cliche TV Beverly Hills crap for the 21st Century. It was just hollow with the Elm Street tag label slapped firmly on it to sell an empty and hollow script, like most things involving millennials. There was not one bit of originality, thought, inventiveness or art put into this bland movie that looks like a dated Netflix episode of something equally generic. It was utterly Pointless if not just to make Freddy's Dead look like a work of art.

Thank you for giving Freddy's Dead it's respect...it's not good, but not worst of the series by a long shot for 3 reasons: 1. It's a goofy homage to the series(watch it like that) that's why all the jokes, and all the AWESOME celebrity cameos and the 3D gimmick 2. Carlos' kill 3. One of the few films where I watch the entire end credits because over the credits and this badass metal track, they play this highlight reel of all the best moments throughout the entire franchise...showing again, the movie was a celebration of ending it, not to be taken seriously but just enjoyed

Halloween was always my favorite movie but I never had interest to watch different horror franchises till I watched that first noes movie. I was hooked. Third favorite horror franchise. Some days could be 1. My ranking. 9. New nightmare (arguably the best directed and written movie but slow , retread kills , not enough Freddy and I forget about this movie sometimes and that's bad) 8. Freddy's dead (is it terrible ? Yeah it is but something about it. I have fun with it) 7. Fvj (bad acting and dialogue , ages bad but Freddy is great) 6. A Nightmare on Elm Street is my favorite horror franchise second to absolutely nothing. A Nightmare on Elm Street the original is the very first horror movie I saw. My ranking from best to worst 1 the original Wes Craven classic 2. Dream Warriors 3. New Nightmare ( I wasn't a fan of Freddy's makeup) 4. Dream master ( Tuesday Knight was my first crush) 5. The dream child 6. Freddy's Dead ( what bothered me about this one is the ten-year Gap which didn't make a whole lot of sense... there's just a huge polthole that was overlooked) 7. Freddy's Revenge. I would have liked the movie better if it didn't break that one rule. I usually watch it when I Marathon but if you didn't want to you could skip it altogether and go right from 1 to 3. That's sad it did have some cool effects, Freddy was scary as hell and if it weren't for that movie we wouldn't have gotten the line "you're all my children now" 8. Freddy versus Jason. I think they took too much time between the time it was rumored in the time it was actually released set the story and overall movie lacked and just like without Robert there is no Freddy without Kane there is no Jason. 9. The remake I hated it I didn't like anything about it. For Christ's sake if it ain't broke don't fix it. In conclusion it's my favorite horror movie franchise... Phantasm is a close second but nightmare's my first. I am glad that Friday the 13th and Halloween got the shop Factory treatment now Shout Factory needs to do the same for Nightmare on Elm Street that should have happened before Friday the 13th # Shout Factory Goes To Elm Street :)

Also shouldn't forget the Freddy's Nightmares tv show, to me the pilot episode and its sequel, Sister's Keeper, are FAR better than anything put out after Part 4. I don't even really consider The Dream Child or anything that came after canon, it doesn't even feel the same, ALL of the 1989 films concerning the 'big three' (Halloween 5, Dream Child, and Jason Takes Manhattan) were terrible compared to everything that came before, I guess because we were about to enter the 90's and 2000's, when everything REALLY started sucking. Seriously, the Freddy, Jason, and Michael movies from the 90's and the 2000's make the 1989 films seem like masterpieces in comparison.

Really interesting list. 2 is not perfect (the bird scene and the parents), but the acting from the three new characters is great; as is the mood propelled by an excellent music score. 1. A Nightmare On Elm Street The main character swap was smart. I love Nancy. 2. Freddy's Dead It's fun and visually striking. 3. A New Nightmare Freddy was scary again. Too bad about his make-up. 4. Freddy's Revenge Great mood and acting propelled by the music score. No to the bird scene. 5. The Dream Child The uncut version REALLY is disgusting and makes for a better film. RIP Greta. 6. Dream Master Alice is a compelling character and I love the movie theatre sequence. 7. Dream Warriors It feels like a children's film, but Joey is hot, so there's that. 8. Jason Vs Freddy Freddy's cool but that girl from Destiny's Child sure can't act. 9. Remake The make-up and digital FX; the more explicit backstory; the emo-like teenagers all make this film a big NO.

I never saw the remake so that's not included. 1. NOES #3: Best dream sequences and a good amount of Freddy. 2. NOES #1: Very creative and memorable. Introduced the character. 3. NOES #4: Basically a more mainstream remake of #3. Very funny in parts. 4. Freddy vs Jason: The last act is a blast. 5. NOES #2: This is the meanest Freddy, and his make-up here is my favorite. But there's simply not enough meat on the bone imo. 6. New Nightmare: Maybe I'll warm up to this eventually, but yeah I find this boring. 7. Freddy's Dead: Silly and entertaining, as long as you can stomach it. 8. NOES #5: It's a lot like #3 and #4, just worse. And the kid is too too cringey. Still quite enjoyable though! I can't remember which Nightmare I saw first, so that didn't influence my rankings. I watched #2 again recently and there's some great stuff in that movie, but simply not enough. For instance the bus dream at the very beginning could have been awesome, but it ends almost as soon as Freddy appears. I have mixed feelings about the lack of in-universe 'rules'; all of these movies contradict themselves anyway, but in this movie it seems like the screenwriter simply threw in ideas without considering the internal logic, character motivations, etc. Why did Freddy explode a bird? Did Freddy go into the bird's dreams and kill it? Funny, but undermines the serious tone the movie is aiming for.

I see why you like Freddy's Revenge...some of the scariest scenes are in 2 and most agree the scariest Freddy is in 2 HOWEVER, I don't mind all the gay subtext but there are some ridiculous scenes in this film like the dance sequence or the scene where the bird explodes but a film is only as good as it's climax and the 3rd act just RUINS IT...where the Meryl Streep look alike goes to that factory and there's dog creatures there...I usually have Freddy's Revenge in the middle of the pack
