Boxing is such a cruel and dangerous sport. The ko shot to the temple was bad enough but falling out of the ring and hitting his head on the floor was downright dangerous. Conlon was out for five minutes or more after that and he hasn't been the same fighter since. The most talented amateur boxer at Rio, robbed of a likely gold medal by Russian and Uzbek match fixing. Two minutes from winning a World title and suffers a career changing ko. It was an amazing title fight. Wood did a classic Andy Lee on it, knocked clean down in the first round and somehow gets up and recovers, battles through the next rounds, ends up the stronger and less tired fighter by the twelfth, gets the ko to win it.

What a hard job being a ref. Note how quickly he reactants when Micheal is out on his feet, but still four shots connect due to the distance he had to cover. Not a criticism, as this was not a case of the ref hovering close as a stoppage was inevitable. Still think the sport should be able to do more to stop fighters falling out of the ring.
