I think one of the main reasons to like Odyssey over Valhalla is because of how the Peloponnesian War mechanic works. Every enemy you kill, every base you loot, every ship you sink, contributes to the larger conflict in the background of the story. You can actively participate, or not. You can reset the victorious faction to what it was when you started there, flip it between the Spartans and Athenians, or just leave it be and let a dice roll decide who wins. It makes it feel like you are having an active impact on the War, without really needing to participate in it. There's nothing really like that in Valhalla. The main cities in England are always guarded by the English, the bandit camps will always be inhabited by bandits regardless of how many times you clear it out. It's just a really static world.

Honestly thats a mechanic I didnt really like. It felt hollow and just because you could change who controlled an area it didnt mean anything. Just that the colours they wore were different. But its still better than valhalla. Haha. I dont have a spare 80 hours to play its bloated non sense. Thanks for watching. :)

@@TheStickz6 I know it basically amounts to nothing more than changing the guard uniform colors, but the point was that it makes the world feel just a little bit more alive. At least, compared to England in Valhalla. Everything you do has some kind of impact on the area, however little it may result in affecting. Minor enough where it ultimately doesn't matter, but large enough where you'll subconsciously notice the differences.

I was in a similar spot as you when I started Origins. It was after a very long hiatus and I just wanted to give it a whirl. I have to say it's up there for me as well, might be top 2. I put heavy weight on story and characters as well as setting, and I think it *nailed* all 3 of those. Bayek is one of my favorite characters, the villains were awesome, tomb raiding was incredible. The side quests were also very compelling and unique. Just an all around great piece of art.

I personally disagreed with putting black flag below ac3 imo black flag literally did everything better except combat and modern story but I don’t come for the modern story and it was quick in and out for the missions and didn’t overstay it’s welcome so thats prob why it didn’t effect me as much. And even you said that you didn’t like the time period… of ac3. I do agree tho that black flag had too many ship missions but it’s understandable for a pirate game.I also disagree with you putting ac1 that high tbh literally the story was the only redeeming quality imo everything else is super boring and repetitive. I also personally wouldn’t put revelations as top 1 but I’m not mad that you did because I loved that game too. I’m kinda glad that you put it there because it showed that you could think for yourself and not just run with the crowd opinion. It showed me that you were really genuine in your review and you wasn’t just trying to appeal to the audience for likes.👍overrall this was a great vid

@@touka6589 oh thanks for the nice comments made. Cheers. Yea not liking ship combat and sailing is a large part of why black flag is so far down. I also think the modern day is very important. Its the reason any of this exists. Imagine ezio trilogy with no modern day. Im a huge modern day lover. Well when its done right ofcourse. I give more points for story than most people would so AC1 is much higher. Also it started this series. I think the parkour in AC1 is amazing if you can be bothered learning it.

But me personally I really didn’t care about the modern timeline for any of the games until revelations but I loved seeing how Ezio interacted with Desmond which made for a really interesting story. The modern story really only got good at the end of the game imo everything else was just parkour to get to a objective then go back to the hideout and hop in the animus rinse and repeat until the end of the game when stuff actually starts to pop off. And the villains were boring and uninteresting imo. There were some stealth missions I enjoyed thought in between but it’s not enough to change my opinion about it as a whole

Hey just found your channel. And this awesome video. So I’ve just actually got into AC and just started playing Origins and loving it so far. Around 4-5 hours in only. I know some of the last games stories by watching some you tube videos on the franchise as a whole. But got a free copy of Origins and love Egyptian history and Egypt so decided to make this my first ever AC game. Glad to see you score it high. At least I know I picked a good to try first. Which one would you recommend I play next when done with Origins ?

Hmm. Good question. So Origins was the first rpg AC game in the series. It was followed by two more very large rpgs in odyssey and valhalla. It depends if you like rpgs or action/adveture/stealth games. The best story moments with modern day are definitely the story that flows through AC1-AC2-brotherhood-revelations-AC3 but they are old games and might not be your thing. Especially AC1. They are all pretty cheap on sales though. Thanks for watching

Interesting video, I’ve play assassins creed from the start but I found it interesting how much you mentioned parkour. Just a means of traversal to me and mean little to nothing. It really brought a spotlight to how different people find different aspects more important. For me it’s always going to be location, which enjoyment can be subjective, character then story. That being said my top 3 are brotherhood, black flag and origins. Istanbul never clicked for me in revelation though I enjoyed the story and the hook blade. I didn’t like the Arno character at all in unity, I liked Elise much more so the story fell flat. Interesting to hear different perspectives.

Rogue is definitely one of my favorites, the ship combat peaked and the locations are a lot of fun to 100% complete. I wish the story was longer and that either they’re was another city to explore or if NYC was bigger. Still a great game. Been playing the remaster and there’s a few bugs but nothing major

Jacob would have been a MUCH better character if his personality was just a front he put up when the rooks were around and when it was just him and Evie, was more of a collected, serious assassin. Not too serious, but still.

I tend to view whether or not a game is good if it's compelling enough to finish or at least how much time I spend before moving on to something else. With that in mind I reflect back on which AC games I've finished. AC1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, AC4, Unity, and Origins. Syndicate I played about 2/3s though before getting bored, I came close to finishing Rogue and got about two or three hours into Odessey before realizing it's not an AC game at all, never touched Valhalla, which I also don't regard as a AC game, as a result and am very skeptical about the upcoming Mirage, wondering if it's not one of the most ironically named games ever made as it might be a "mirage" in terms of Ubisoft making actual AC games again.

@@TheStickz6 Yeah, that seems kinda dumb. One more reason not to preorder. These devs don't seem to understand that AC is not a fantasy game, it's suppose to reflect our own world on the surface but have some scifi aspects hidden away. Packing a glowing sword though medieval Baghdad while trying to be a socially stealthy assassin is pushing the "fiction" part of the scifi to the immersion breaking point, as does things like the teleportation ability. While there has always been fiction in AC, like leaping off a ten story building and safely landing unharmed in a haystack it has to be at least vaguely plausible that it COULD happen, not so outlandish it defines common sense logic.

@177SCmaro they explain it all away with 'animus hacks'. But Im sure most of the devs dont want a glow in the dark sword in the game. Its the people who care about making as much money as possible that want that sh*t in the game. But unfortunately people still buy this stuff.

Assassins creed odyssey is my one of my favourite games. I know that it is no real assassins creed but its have some lore with the dlc of the first blade and i think with origin its the best setting.

Also if I have to rank them which is all good games in there own way, here's mine Ac games Ranking Tier-list 1. Ac 2. Ac Revalations 3. Ac Brotherhood 4. Ac II 5. Ac III 6. Ac Unity 7. Ac Origins 8. Ac IV 9. Ac Rogue 10. Ac Syndicate 11. Ac Valhalla 12. Ac Odyssey Assassin's Creed is just a perfect game for me, balanced combat, unique way of stealth, best parkour I'd say because of the freedom and control including my fav parkour mechanic which is vaulting. Altaïr is just my fav protagonist, and the plot of earning back the respect of you're other fellow Assassins because of breaking the tenets and indirectly causing the deaths of you're brothers, to saving the whole corrupted Assassin Brotherhood, and not just that but revolutionizing it.

Feel like Ezio was really damn sloppy in Revelations. He literally broke, like at least 2/3 tenets. Love him to bits but AC2 and Brotherhood are miles ahead of Revelations as far as the character progression goes. The den battles were really a time waster also. And the city design was really cluttered and "meh". I feel like a lot of people liked it mostly because of Altair's end.

Yea altairs ending ezio talking to desmond and the isu. 4 different time periods all together at once. Ezio breaks the tenets a lot in all 3 games. Ezios character development is great in revelations. He learns to love again. To let go of this life as hes following altair. I could go on but yea lol

Why is origins so high I started with origins and found it so boring there was nothing to do whereas in odyssey there are so many different things you can do such as: fight for Sparta, hunt the cultists, hunt down mercenaries, do naval battles and that is only a few.

Odyssey you literally become a demigod. It's not grounded at all. Origins has Assassins in it. You play as the two people who started the hidden ones. Origins grind is still annoying but its way less obnoxious. It's an Assassins creed game and odyssey is not. That is why. Thanks for watching.

What the hell is wrong with every KZbinr, putting AC 1 this high on the list. You are looking that game from the eyes of your past self. I completed this game again yesterday. It only has like 6 missions like pick pocket, beating someone for information, killing guards for information etc. Just these 6 keep on repeating , you have to repeat these missions like 5 times without much variation 😂 You guys looking this game emotionally but try playing this game now, you will know. 😂

12. AC Valhalla. Boring, I dont want to play this game again. 11. AC1, has not aged well, did not find the story too interesting or the gameplay to be that fun. Parkour was awesome. 10. AC Rogue. Mediocre and way too short. 9. AC Revelations. I was shocked to hear what you had to say about the story. I like the ending of this game but I thought the stuff in the middle was some of the worst in the series. Good send off for Ezio and the ending is one of my favorite moments in the series but man I did not care for almost any of the side characters or templars. 8. AC Syndicate. My favorite setting in the series and the best stealth in the franchise. 7. AC3. I think Haytham is quite simply the best antagonist in the series. I like Connor, the game is fun but isnt my favorite. 6. AC Odyssey. Very fun game, not very assassins creed to me but it is quite fun. Unironically mastery levels make this game so replayable on NG+ for me. 5. AC Unity. I dont like the story but the gameplay? Oh boy if not for glitches this is the peak. Arno is a decent character. I like France as a setting. If Unity did not still have combat and stealth bugs, it may have been even higher. I wish thr coop worked better and should really come back in the series in my opinion. 4. AC2. I agree with you about the story for this one hut the gameplay is rough. Even when I rented this game from a blockbuster back in 2010 I didnt find the combat to be too fun. Great story and setting but I really dont like the combat. 3. AC Origins. Easily the best of the rpg trilogy. Bayek is a top 3 character for me. Dlcs were great, map was fun to explore, pretty good story. 2. AC Brotherhood. AC2 but eith better side content and improved combat. 1. AC4 Blackflag. I adore the naval combat. I never looked at the ship leveling as a grind because I found it so fun to just sail around. Great setting, great character, great gameplay, I only wish there were less trailing missions. Some of my favorite side content too.

Black flag on top with unity just behind. You just cannot do black flag like that, the parkour was good for 2013 but you need to give more credit to the executions and the epic stealth and combat style of this game. Black flag has a little bit over 500 different animations/ways to kill different enemy’s and the ship battle is clearly the most fun, immersive and efficient way of travelling/discovering the map, upgrading your ship was fun not like in the newest assassins creed. When I play an ac I want to kill and execute bad guys I want it to be cool and flashy, if I want to play an RPG I’m gonna load up the Witcher III not ac origins or odyssey. They were fun games but nowhere comparable from unity or black flag. Unity in top 2 simply because of the parkour that is the best in all ac games and probably of all video games.

Hey mate. This is my opinion and just like you Im entitled to it. We all like different things. I dislike all things ship related in most ac games. Its a preference. I can't lie and put it higher when theres so much forced ship stuff. Unity has great parkour and stealth. It introduced the black box missions and I love them too. The story was weak but paris itself is an amazing map

I do play the old ones. And you get History in the old ganes too. Also, punctuation is really useful, helps the reader understand what you're saying. And I dont think they needed to switch it up as much as they did. People lost interest because of Unitys terrible release. Not to mention, syndicate literally went backwards in innovation. Dumbed down every system. And Mirage just released which is a new game in the old style and has sold very well

Because syndicates stealth is one of the best in the series and London is an amazing city. Rogue is just AC4 but as a templar with absolutely abysmal writing.

Originally it was planned to be a dlc but grew in scope. I dont think it was half assed at all. Baghdad is fantastic. The stealth is top tier. And its cheaper than most games coming out. Its got a longer story than the full price spiderman 2 that just cane out
